A dodgy reserve keeper may cost you a point or two 3 or times a year whereas a strong outfield player will play 40+ games. I bet you get more bang for buck. Excuse me mr premiership club. Can we take your promising youth player on loan as a back up, not pay his wages or play him. No you say. That’s outrageous

 

Surprised there’s been no interest in Macauley Bonne this window, scored 20+ in National League i believe last season for Orient and relatively young.

 

Mentioned him in the striker thread - I agree it is strange no club seems to have been linked with him he has only 1 year left on his contract too like Wyke.

Yeah. Pretty lethal at that level. He spent some time at Burton on loan so could go there. Notts county have some big backers so don't rule him out going there

The suggestion in that article that city are looking at Doyle as a 'fallback' should Wyke be sold is slightly worrying. We need at least one more striker if Wyke stays, if he goes we need two but that statement makes it sound like we are only considering him as a replacement, not to bolster our attack.

 

I am worried by that as well! Nothing we can do, we will just have to wait and see. The one thing I do know is that Sunderland or Bolton are not having him on the cheap, I do trust Edin to get his true worth. Nevertheless, I want him to stay, and we need at least one more if not two, if we have promotion ambitions this is where w e push the boat out, and get quality in through the door.

 

It just seems a ludicrous suggestion. Why would we recruit so well across the rest of the park and then just not bother at the business end!

 

Can’t see him going to Burton. Read over the weekend that they have big issues financially and are struggling to compete in the transfer market.

 

I don't think it's not bothering, it's simply that goal scorers cost the most,have the most competition to buy and are harder to find.

 

You do realise you just listed 5 strikers and then said "After these we dont have any other strikers"

Putting aside the question of whether they are good enough. How many should we have?

I read the article too and imo, implies Doyle would be a potential replacement for wyke. It doesn't imo say either way that further transfers may or may not happen.
