Talking of travelling, just be aware if you are coming from the Harrogate area there are road closures around Otley , Arthington and North Leeds on this Sunday due to Leeds Marathon.

 

If this was the Saturday game the other half and the youngest would be coming.
Because its the Sunday I'm taking just my eldest as my youngest is usually in bed by 8.30pm for school. It's a shame as she has been to a number of games and we have won every single one, so she will be making the trip to Wembley whether she likes it or not.

I wonder if we could have sold the season tickets for the non-attendees anyway? Those absentees may have been seat-blockers, especially for groups who would have sat together.

I wouldn't be surprised if the attendance was slightly lower, for the reasons you outline, Rod... I also wouldn't be surprised if it was actually higher, though. It will be in that ball park 20-22k though.

 

You're right that there will have been season ticket holders counted in Monday's total but not actually present, so because all tickets for Sunday's game have to be purchased, I'm guessing everyone buying one intends to be there. Could that actually result in there being more actual bums on seats on Sunday than there were on Monday, even though the official figure given might be lower?

 

As you say there would have been some season ticket holder who didn't attend on Monday but Sundays attendance will be as near a genuine number possible as everyone has bought a ticket.

 

I think it was a guess to be honest, as they weren’t (yet again) using the scanners at the turnstile I used.
The lady said it was playing up and she couldn’t be bothered battling with it!

 

It would be more accurate moving forward if clubs issued paid attendance and actual attendance figures.
I have seen it done in other clubs programmes in the past.
It would make it a lot more open, and no 16k figure when we all know there was about 9-10k in the ground.
It would only work if we scanned all tickets accurately though.

 

Why is it all relevant? The bit that matters is how many have PAID to attend, whether they attend is not relevant for taxation purposes.

The only people that it really matters to is the emergency services and they probably have access to a more accurate figure based on turnstile clicks rather than scan counts. I remember the other year a journalist did some work around the difference between announced figures and actual attendance, They put in freedom of information requests to get details from police

 

Me and my mate have sat in someone else’s seats all season and it’s definitely a bought season ticket seat.
