If compared to Meredith he’s lacking in a few areas, pace and crossing ability being two. He also doesn’t have the streetwise nouse of a Tony Mac, but he does the read the game well. Decent league two defender but I’d be looking for an athletic wing back if we go up.

 

I'm obviously rubbish when assessing full backs . For all his obvious qualities, in attack and defence, I seem to recall Meredith's crossing was the thing that sometimes let him down

 

Completely agree. Meredith's crossing was woeful and most of the time barely got a foot off the floor!

 

Absolutely. Halliday is a better crosser than Mezza ever was.

 

Could be my memory but I saw that Meredith offered more of a threat than Halliday.

 

His energy and pace got him into threatening positions often during games but his final ball was imo a letdown.

He did drive into the box at times though and got shots off so that's one thing he did better than Halliday from an attacking sense

That's right. He got up and down a lot - fantastic engine. And he linked well with Nicky Law and Kyle Reid. But his crossing was pretty useless.

 

Halliday still in his own half against Crewe unable to get back as the lad runs through and scored with Halliday no where to be seen. Point made he is far to slow He is been roasted by a quick player as they have done there homework knowing the weakness down that side
