You cannot have a full squad of first teamers, it’s just not affordable. You need people like Gilly who can come in and do a job at a higher level I believe . He’s reliable and workmanlike. If not in the first 15/16 he’s certainly worth a shirt in the squad , so yes I’d offer him a 18/24 month deal, with a reasonable increase.

How dare you suggest Cook was dropped at Christmas , Hughes rested him he saw he was fatigued and wanted to recharge his batteries..........................then again I agree and believe as yourself he was dropped because he missed what were sitters for Cook.

Sadly for Wright, unless he is injured,he is not getting a look in at Plymouth.Played a few games after signing, but not making the squad now.

He's been injured, had 1 sub and 2 starts when he first signed then got a calf injury in training. Thought it was OK, started the next game he could and went off after hurting it again. Was out another month, just got back to training about 2 weeks back, was on the bench for the last league game but didn't come on and he wasn't eligible to be in the squad for the PJT final.

On Banks contract, from the looks of things it's expires this June, unless he signed another in secret. He signed his last deal Jan 2020 to take him to June 2023.

He started at Wembley against Bolton in the Papa John Trophy mate, unless Plymouth have two players called Wright.

For me I’d keep him, as Kev said a useful squad player. I’d keep all the regulars get rid of those who don’t play and look to bring in 5/6 league 1 first teamers. I’d rather Gilliead on the bench or in rotation than a Kian Scales or 5.

That's one hell of a demotion to go from being one of the first names on the team sheet week in week out to being a useful squad player. If he stays it will be because Hughes still sees him as one of his key players for next season, if he doesn't I reckon he'll be off.

Nature of the beast, if we’re in league 1 he can’t be guaranteed 90 minutes every game. As a club we need to be cut throat and look to improve as many positions as possible.

Absolutely. I'm not suggesting he should be guaranteed to start every game if we go up, but Hughes clearly rates him so I just think if he does stay, he will continue to play more often than not.

I think he'll be offered a deal but won't be one he'll like. He's played well recently but it's taken him 2 seasons to get to this point. As you say, it's our weakest position on the pitch, but with the ageing Clayton and underwhelming Smallwood, there might be a chance he gets a deal but only as a support act. As we shifted Sutton because we upgraded, I think we might do the same with Gilliead. We need creativity and goal returns, something we aren't getting at the moment.

Remember how ruthless Parky was. Jones had a fantastic season yet wasn’t offered a new deal. I was surprised at the time but managers have to have emotional attachment and detachment at different times.
We need more energy in centre midfield. Possession is great at controlling a game but it needs to be mixed with attacking threat in that area and higher goal output. It’s unusual for a team to be so reliant on one player for goals. That has to change and because of that how city play and out personnel will also need to adapt. Keillor Dunn at Mansfield has scored a hatful since January in an attacking midfield role. Arriving late in the box is difficult to track and he has a real knack at this. We need this and or more threat on wider areas. Fast Wingers or wing backs to create havoc push the opppsition back and create space for the midfield.

Always like Keillor-Dunn. Just the type who would do well here in my opinion

I assume you mean after the History Makers season, when it would have been tempting to give Gary Jones a contract extension after his heroics in our League Cup and promotion campaigns. Parky was certainly proved correct in not doing so, however. Jones' performances the following season in L1 were (Sheffield United away, excepted) underwhelming to say the least.

I have no doubt managers like Parky , Hughes, Warnock etc would be ruthless as opposed to bosses like Stuart who wouldn’t?

I do vaguely remember Cooke's Dad moaning - it was when he was playing for Adams.
