Current loan players. Who would you like to see back at VP next season

Exactly, cant really put stock into it. I think a spell at a York/Oldham/Halifax type where he was starting weekly from November time would have done him far better career wise, than this in and out spell at Barrow.

 

Yes absolutely. Barrow for him has been an utter waste of time. 4 games in 13/14 weeks says a lot?

To me this sounds a fitness issue and/or training quality which is very similar to comments Hughes made earlier in the season. He was dropped back to the bench again at the weekend. There's comes a point where if multiple managers are saying similar things then maybe it's not a manager issue but a player issue. Like others have said this sounds a lot like Jordan Gibson and Callum Cooke where they get told by family that they are better than they are and believe it so don't think they are the problem.

 

Don't really remember that with Cooke? Was that the situation?

Certainly had that with Harratt, and Devante Cole.

Can't believe Cole gets in at Barnsley. Ridiculously poor forward.

 

Cooke's Dad mouthed off at a couple of games blaming managers for not playing him in his best position then last season just before it was announced he was being released he retweeted one of the stat pages showing him having one of the highest key passes with a shrugging emoji.

 

He wasn't played in his best position. He was played either deeper or on the left.

Whether he was good enough in his best position is another debate entirely though.

 

He was played in every possible position at some point. He played lots of games as a number 10 in a 4231 for Adams last season

 

He was part of the matchday squad of 18/20 players and as a result undertook the same training as Gilly, Banks, etc,etc. So how can Barrow claim he didn’t come in at the level they thought he was at??
This is a player issue , nobody else’s. “ We think HE can still DO MORE” ….That’s the give away comment, right there!

 

Was thinking the same about players out on loan, add to that the young ones (Scales, Cousin-Dawson) as well as the likes of Henrie, Threlkeld (apparently still with us?) there’s likely to be a lot of faces out at the end of the season regardless which league we are in.

for what it’s worth, between those on loan and those out on loan, I can only see Foulds back at the club next season.

 

Not him either Olly. He’s found his level I believe. Nothing against the lad but he’s far far too tentative say compared to Halliday.

 

Crichlow yes to partner Stubbs.
Banks yes as imo he stretches the opposition and is full of tricks.
The others no.
Clayton needs a new 12 month contract after his 6 months is up.
I feel we have a strong spine of the team.
Lewis, Stubbs, Smallwood, Walker, Cook.
Left back still an issue.
I feel if we go up then just a few additions around the 1st team and maybe 4 or 5 upgrades for the squad and we would compete.

 

You say that Clayton needs a 12 month contract but if we go up I feel he doesn’t. He is 36 and with our midfield and the lack of pace in it then at div 1 level it would struggle badly.

If we stay in Div 2 then it’s a maybe.

 

Just as a squad member.
Someone to call upon when injuries kick in or we need to see matches out.

Yeah, potentially so. He’s not old by any means, but let’s say if he was 22yrs and had more time ahead of him, I could see opportunity for development into a L.1 player.

He always reminds me a bit of Stephen Darby, however I am no way comparing him to the level of that legend.
