Grimsby drew 1-1 with Crawley tonight, conceded a late pen to share the points. Ex player Sean Scannell is attempting to make yet another injury comeback, got half an hour tonight and failed to impress from the sounds of things.

To say they have nothing to play for, looks like the are still giving games a go. They've had 50 shots in their last 3 league games, but just the two goals.

Somebody who has around 400 appearances, with a return of 25 goals, coming back from more lengthy injury, heading towards 33 of age, should not really cause too much concern for our defence.

We absolutely battered Crawley last night ,should have been 5 or 6 but our finishing is awful . The shackles have come off the last 5 or 6 games as we have nothing to play for so it should make for an entertaining game as whatever the result at least we are keeping it on the floor and playing football -our last 5 games have been very un league 2 so hoping for more of the same .

As of yesterday we have sold 2200 so should get near to your limit , we are travelling well everywhere this season and getting great home crowds (sold out home end every game ) but it now only holds around 8k due to various problems with the age of the stadium , we have just found out another 350k is needed to just keep the old wooden stand open for next season bringing the total cost to around 1 million over the last 3 years to keep our old ground open .

There are some lovely areas outside of the Town like somebody said , unfortunately the stadium is right in the spot of years of under investment, poverty and disrepair .....you can still get a 50k house there though which isnt possible many place else these days

Look forward to the trip over and hopefully a good game

Fully agree, merely just pointing out a city related moment from the game. Think I saw he's only started 11 games since leaving us 3 years ago.

Just short of 1950 away tickets sold according to Grimsby.

Great - is it big enough to build Fordy's training ground?

No chance. Fordy is looking for at least 100 acres of the best prime real estate , so we can have 10 pitches and 3 car washes.

As i said , every town and city has it's good and bad places. The Manningham area around VP was one of the finest in the country back in the day, but now lacks investment . Hope you can find the money to keep the stadium going, i love the older grounds and can not stand the modern concrete and plastic bowls. Maybe your good cup run will help with this.
Enjoy your day out , but not too much , we need the points and you are going nowhere this year, Surely its better to get rid of us, with Wrexham and Notts county probably on the way back and the teams on the way down theoretically not as strong.

We will keep the stadium going ,we have good owners who are relatively wealthy and investing but not in a reckless way .

Its a double edged sword as far as you going up is concerned as its one of the better away days and one of a handful of teams who travel well in this league .

I think it will be highly competitive next year as you say Wrexham will have a budget that should on paper see them go right through , Stockport if they throw money at it (as they seem to continually do and are in an extraordinary amount of debt ) Swindon who surely will get their act together at some point ,MK dons who seem to be a bit if a yo yo team .And then there is going to be Mansfield/you/Stockport who all would expect to be challenging .

On top of that you have the sugar daddy clubs Salford probably ,and FGR who i thought would do better but maybe Mr vegetables investment doesnt go beyond the top end of league 2 .

So it will be a tough league but i expect us to give it a good go next year -Carlisle ,Stevenage and Orient have shown its possible to challenge as a more unfancied team in league 2 .

Whats the situation at Bradford is there much investment in the team there or is the budget just what you get from your large crowds ?

I can't remember when a City team last won an early kick-off match. Just hope there is a change of fortune on Saturday.

Harrogate and Hartlepool away games were both early kick offs

As far as i am aware , the only money we spend, is what we raise, through ticket sales and the commercial side, which is apparently doing really well this season.
Our chairman Mr Rupp , is not a football man, but got involved through an arse of a mate/college. Who turned a championship challenging playoff team into relegation fodder in a breath, with his i know football mentality.
The club is probably for sale on the quiet, but apparently the asking price is stupid.

Doh! One day you'll be in your 70's. How could I forget those away victories? Any idea when we last won an early kick-off at Valley Parade?

Hard to really remember many early kick offs at home, other than this season I can only think of Bristol Rovers in 17/18 when it was on Sky when Wyke got a hat-trick.

That doesn’t surprise me. Watched a bit of them vs Harrogate at their place in February and it was 0-0 - made us look like Barcelona at home it was that bad. Like us, though, they play better away it seems.

That was dreadful that Harrogate game . We are a lot better away against teams that come out and play ,we lack creativity (even though the last few games we have been more expansive )

I would say the way to beat us is sit back and let us have it and then counter when you get the ball back . If you play open attacking football we will be dangerous on the counter -Mcatee ,Clifton and Lloyd are good players ;Clifton is a home grown lad who will attract a lot of attention from higher up in the summer .

If you have a nippy central midfielder who can move with the ball i would advise you to get the ball to him and attack straight down the middle. We can be opened up on the counter due to having a fairly immobile central midfield. Adam Clayton being out is a big loss for us, has linked well with the back four.

Almost 19000 tickets sold as of today. We have had some super attendances this season.
Wonder what we would be getting if we were any good at home.
