Colchester’s away record before they got here over the last couple of months

was LWWWWW and into it there boring negative time wasting antics and you can see it’s a decent win :)
If we can possibly pull in 4 points from our next two away games then it really does set us up nicely

Their away type of playing works for them….They couldn’t play at home like that, it would bore an already empty soulless stadium to tears.

City’s formation works equally or better, on this seasons record, away from VP……Similarly, less effective at home?

I said months ago, I prefer City playing away.

One thing that was quite noticeable yesterday, the boo boys have been put back in their box. It just wouldn’t have been tolerated by the VP crowd years ago. Seems like they are getting the message?

I have yet to see a player or a team improve their performance, over 60 years of supporting City, after being booed…anyone?

He was actually loosing his shit with banks for not being in position ... Haliday was looking to pass up the wing but banks wasn't there so had to turn back

    Hughes went nuts with banks

Yes,that was right in front of me.
    Hughes was furious.
Tho look on Banks’ face showed that he realised he’d messed up.

they need to realise that it simply doesn’t help them ...........I actually thought the crowd did ok considering what was going off on the pitch ............I simply don’t care if we have another 13 games like that so long as we get the results and get out of this shocking league ............ 334 Colchester fans paying just a fiver in sorry it’s just poor and we need to get away from that this season .......... we need to go up where teams will come out to play and bring big away followings

I was impressed with Colchester and I thought in the first half there movement was very good and hoped they didn't score as IMO we were not playing well enough to pull two goals back to win the game, overall for some reason we looked frightened of taking the ball forward, only Walker first half prepared to take men on, second half we improved with our subs, but what a finish.
So for me far from a good performance after the last two game more so the Gillingham game but as we know at this stage of the season its about points on the board, and although it wasn't a classic we never gave up and did to Colchester what they did to us at their place earlier in the season, which was sweet revenge.

Was he the one who faked being hit in the face and spent a minute rolling around on the floor just in front of MH?

Yes but that IMO didn't distract from his good first half performance

    I agree.
He was physically very strong, quick and played very well.
He had all the attributes of a perfect wing back.

That was funny, he rolled back onto the pitch so it would stop the game. Hughes ran to him and give him a mouth full.

Similar build to the lad Headley who Town loaned to Harrogate, a constant threat down our right side.

Purple patch? A purple patch is a run. Hes been scoring goals the entire season. 22 goals in 36 games!

He will be offered a new deal. Whether he signs is down to other offers. He needs signing up immediately.

Still think we will finish 8th? You were cooing over Swindon, Mansfield and Salfords transfer business in the summer - but not ours.

No outlet , I see your point. Good shout. That’s why Banks would not be the same player over 90 mins. That was proved earlier in the campaign, that’s why he was dropped. Doing the good stuff is a fraction of a 90 minute game. He needs to be able to do the dirty stuff 85% of the time.

Just look at Stevenage as a case in point. They have I think 5 out yesterday. They have 5 points from the last 18.

Man U are arguably the most inform team in the PL right now. Their run is a mix of good play, taking your chances when they present themselves when not at their best e.g. last week vs Newcastle.
city arguably could have been 2 down before the late onslaught yesterday. Lewis made a couple of good saves. But we took our chance finally late in the game. Similar traits albeit at a much lower level.
Colchester to their credit came and had a go for 70 minutes. They looked easily a top half team to me. It was pleasing though to see the blatant time wasting late on go unrewarded.
For those critical of Hughes his substitutions made a big difference and to see city finally nicking a home game late on, a pleasing change.
It was also noticeable that city got the ball forward earlier and our play was more mixed than possession heavy. Costello stretched the opposition with runs in behind but we didn’t make the most of this. Need to spot his runs better and earlier.
We are also over reliant on cooks goals but if we can maintain this momentum then we are in decent shape to push the top three and hopefully our squad depth makes a difference compared to others around us in the long run.
