    If I had a choice, I'd settle for 3rd over 7th every time! ;)

Rochdale, Crawley and Hartlepool are struggling, not us

Although our home form has been very underwhelming, we have to look at the bigger picture, and as it stands IF we win the 2 away games at Gillingham & Walsall then we will be equal on games & points with Stockport, and 1 point below the 3rd auto place

Yes it is a big IF but there's still over a third of the season to go and everything to play for

    Bring it on

We're 8th. That's hardly struggling. Rochdale are struggling, we are under performing. 6/10, compared to last season 7/10.

Overall, as it stands I'd give this season a "C" -- on a scale where a "B" means the question has been answered, with reasonable form and content and no glaring errors or omissions in either substance or style. "A"s go above and beyond that, "C"s fail in some way, but not fatally. "D"s have glaring failings which may well lead to an "F". No "F"s yet, as the deadline for final submissions of work is still a few months away.

We have the potential to move upwards in the scale; our consistent inconsistency has held us back. After those last two wins, beating Barrow would have put us comfortably on playoff pace; instead, we're uncomfortably there. Home form and goals-for remain the main problems. Different tactics could help with the former, but without more help from the midfield/wingers, and any help at all from the defenders, the latter will be very difficult to improve. At least Walker looks like he will increase the midfields contribution.

It’s more about tactics at home rather than the defenders and midfielders. Everything is played in front of the opposition making it easy to stifle. Allow the players more freedom forget about possession for possession sake allow more width and the occasional long pass and maybe we can turn the home form round

Indeed, quite apt given history with "freudian slips"

Seriously I just cannot fathom where we will end up :(

we could easily go in a good run and get the automatics

or we could easily end up in midtable

trying to fathom this team out will end up hurting your head ............if we actually got two draws out of two away games it wouldn’t be two bad .............. but can you actually trust this group to get the job done against teams we should be beating ?????

Let’s just go out and give it a go at least we can say we had a go at it ............. frankly if we don’t and we do end up outside the playoffs then the club will have a hell of a job selling season tickets for next term

I actually think we could still reach 3rd if Hughes just goes out and has a serious go over the next few months ............... yes we may lose a few but I can see us winning a lot more

And that’s the problem. We haven’t been consistent at all. Two wins back to back and we’re praising it! Teams that go up, or make a charge for the playoffs, generally get there by putting a run together (we’ve been one of those in the past). At no point this season have we done that. Just when we’re off the back of two great wins and facing an “easy” oppo, we screw it up. When I can see some confidence running in the team, then I’ll see some confidence returning in my hope that we’ll make top seven.

The last time I ever thought, going into a game, that we were likely to win it, was in Stuart's "nearly" season.

Since then, the quality has been so bad, I have no expectations.

It's pointless worrying our heads with hypothetical requirements for promotion, with this lot.

It would be great if we could gain promotion, but it will be no surprise if the season meanders to a mid table finish.

    No expectations means no disappointment.

We aren't consistent enough to finish 3rd imo.
We are however capable enough of finishing in the play offs and have enough to get to Wembley and win.

I wouldn't say we are struggling to get into a play off position. However it's probably correct to say that we are struggling to get into the autos. As far as I'm concerned that's a bit of a failure. That can only be corrected by winning a play off final at Wembley, anything less is just failure.

This is our current form over the last 6 games.

We sit in 8th place which exactly mirrors our position in the full table over 30 games.

So we are consistent. But the result is in just falling short.

We need to buck the trend we have created.

The home losses to Rochdale and Barrow (and to a lesser extent Stockport) are the results which really hurt us.

Think what’s peeing a lot of folk of is that if we can put some kind of run together then the automatics are up for grabs ............ a month ago it was only 3rd place to go at now suddenly it’s 2nd and 3rd ......we have 15 games to go and if we could somehow muster 10 wins up it may see us up automatically................teams above us will be at breaking points with there squad while us on the other hand are getting players back ............... big two games coming up ............. IF we win both then we are really in the chase

This is the new Form Table over the last 6 games.

We are now sixth. So in the Play Off’s. Stevenage seem to be sinking fast!

We play Gillingham at their place on Tuesday, they are one place higher, but have gained two more points than us in the last six. A very tough match.

The interesting column is the Opponent’s PPG, which suggests we have played some of the current best performing teams, only Tranmere and Crawley have played teams in better form.

    A lot to play for.

I would actually take a point midweek so long as we do the business on Saturday but it no guarantee :(

Donny away Gillingham away we pull 4 points out of them two then we would have all been happy with that before yesterday’s result ................if we could actually turn our home form around then I could see us going up comfortably ......... apart from the Carlisle game and Orient who could be well in holiday mode then the remaining are winnable .......... but when you can’t beat Rochdale and turn up as bad as we where against Barrow you just can’t trust them
