Our wingers don’t seem to ever cross tbh, most crosses come from the full backs which is still rarer than rocking horse shit. I think the tactic comes from the manager not players as most of the time they will just cut inside with the full back offering an option. It works okay when Banks plays as he’s good at cutting inside and shooting and when we had Wright, but not sure we have the players now, that said we have changed shape.

 

Sutton is literally a direct replacement for East and could have carried out that role rather than bringing on a winger and having to alter the shape.

No but Gillead could play there as he has done before and Sutton would have played the right side.

 

But then Gilliead doesn't have the performance he had in the right. Football by its nature is very position specific right down to the side of the pitch a player plays on.

 

He doesn't need to though. There's 20 minutes left and we just need to be solid and disciplined. Changing the shape because we didn't have a genuine midfielder on the bench is what cost us imo.
