I believe he's also had a fair few injury problems that have kept him on the sidelines. I appreciate this probably doesn't help to reassure Rod, but it does at least provide a possible explanation as to why his games tally is so low.

My view is that you should always learn from history. I am not sure just what these injuries were, but they must have been serious enough to limit his career over a lengthy period. It suggests to me, that he may well be prone to recurrence or he may ‘guard’ his body by not playing at full pitch, which in turn limits his performance. We have had a number on here, suggesting a similar situation with Lee Angol. I know from personal experience that cartilage and achilles injuries can limit your capability (but I am older and was not a professional sportsman with the ‘state of the art’ medical care).
I genuinely want to see players who can perform at the peak of their ability and have enough experience to contribute to the team. They have to be at least as good and preferably better than what we already have.

We were told Matt Derbyshire could not play last Tuesday night because of international clearance then he doesn't even make the bench against Wimbledon, lets hope as you say he comes ready to play.

Strange one this. The lack of games and injury history is worrying. What evidence can there be (after 14 league games) that he is any better than Foulds, unless we are planning to ditch Ridehalgh and he is back up.

He's certainly not the experienced raiding LB we need at this point. The problem isn't Foulds, it's whose in front of him as shown when Foulds had a decent left sided player to link with and produced some great balls into the box.

Far too many inexperienced signings to indicate that we have strengthened for an automatic promotion push and too much screaming at me that we are filling gaps for a further recruitment drive in the summer.

If one thinks Foulds is a capable, effective fullback, in the way we play either 433 , 442 or 4231 then we have a huge problem. I know he’s a L2 fullback, but we have seen twice as good this season at VP, even Halliday has surprised a lot of people. At least he joins in “ attacking “ play.. Defensively they are on a par, no question, however going forward there is only one of the two that creates chances for others and gets involved in attacking play. Let’s be honest here.

Derbyshire traveled with the squad on Saturday so he'll have been the 19th man in case of a late injury. With having such a big squad there's going to be people missing out on the 18 man squad. With Walker out suspended this weekend there's a space but I'd guess that's between Foulds (if Bola starts) and Derbyshire.

I just thought after Hughes comment with regards International clearance he would either be in the starting 11 or on the bench.

Thought we need a right back with Halidays lack of pace been targeted by other teams and costing us goals we should not be conceding

I have a mate who lives in Rotherham and follows the millers a lot. (Cant be helped),and he says if this guy stays fit, he could be an asset for us,, he is strong in the tackle, good positioning and a great left foot, lets see eh.

This is a real make or break decision for Hughes.

We're about to play a top of the table side and three teams who could all overtake us if they beat us.

We've now got two left backs who have played very little this season. It's an obvious weakness and in the current diamond formation there is little support or cover for our full backs.

Let's hope he plays well but if he doesnt or if he gets injured then we're screwed because we are very short of left footed players who could even fill in there without being forced to change the formation to a back three.

This is a big gamble for me. And almost an unnecessary one but if it works then Hughes can take the credit.

It's clear to me, looking at the assists data that our lack of scoring is nothing to do with our full back - Foulds has 2, Halliday the most with 3.

At the moment Foulds has more assists than Chapman, Gilliead, Oliver, Eisa and Walker COMBINED.

I hope Hughes is similarly ruthless with his midfielders and forwards.

Not according to this data, I’ve followed this all season and believe it is correct.. except for Halliday should have 6 but his assist for Oliver wasn’t updated unlike Oliver’s goal.

After a very dodgy opening 20 minutes against Stockport and mediocre remainder of a game, I thought after a nervy first five minutes, he looked excellent and seems to be able to deliver a ball accurately and consistently.

Problem of course he's one of a few with energy issues, as he hasn't played many 90 minutes.

But he's not looking a disastrous signing, so far.

Thought he was a solid 7 today. If he gets better we might have a player on our hands.

I wasn't impressed with his performance at Stockport but maybe Hughes should have given the lad a few days training with the squad but with Foulds saying he wanted regular football and leaving for Harrogate I suppose Hughes has little choice. today I thought the kid looked comfortable in both his attacking role and defending

Great clearance off the line, not so good defending cross for equaliser.
Everyone else seemed to switch off too though
