It was never an own goal to be fair, Oliver got his head on that and deflection or not, it’s only ever the forwards goal

He signed, then trained - there's pictures of him training before the game last week and it's been mentioned in articles

 

I wish they’d scrap the transfer window. What is the justification for actually having it?

Why can’t you just sign whenever you want?

all it does is create panic and drive up fees, especially in January.

i think it increases the amount of loans, too, with teams making stop gaps between windows.

 

2 guys currently struggling at Spurs - Emerson Royale and Harry ????? who seems desperate to come north. We could develop both and offer Harry an apartment in BD8 maybe? Your thoughts on this please.

 

I think it was brought in to stop the big guns disrupting your players or taking your players during the season. It's good that you can address issues like we did after McCall. We could be non league now without having the opportunity to bring reinforcements in.

 

It also prevents clubs taking financial risks by gambling with an expensive late-season signing to try and secure promotion/avoid relegation.

If everyone in the top half takes a financial risk like that, it will not pay off for 8 of them by definition.

Football was crippling itself with it's out of control spending, and the temptation was all too much prior to the transfer windows.

 

Exactly that. Imagine if in the modern PL there was no transfer window, the chasing clubs would have no change. Like this season, if the title race is going to run as close as it was, Man City at the start of the window say here's £50M for Ramsdale, £100M for Saka, try take Martinelli and Odegaard too and they make it public that they'll double their wages, because they can afford it, that at least one of the key players would be tempted? Even if not, it would cause that much of a stink or put doubt in a players head that it would disrupt the nearest competition. Or a team in the bottom 3 with loads of cash spare just tries to buy or disrupt the others around them by bidding for the best of the rest of the 4 or 5 teams around them, leagues would be chaos with todays money.

On someones post about top clubs hoarding talent and depending on loans to develop these kids, Fifa are changing the rule around global transfers from the start of the 24/25 season i think it is set to come into place, that clubs can only send up to 6 players out on loan at a given time. I think Chelsea have over 20 players on loan this year on pro contracts, so in the next 18 months i'd expect a lot of players between 20-23 at top clubs who just float around the reserve ranks to be released.

 

They should leave the loan market open for lower league clubs who can’t carry big squads

 

Cooks exclusion from the starting eleven tonight still heavily would suggest someone is sniffing around ready to swoop for his services regardless of Mark Hughes stance.Money talks especially at our level hence in my opinion Cooks days in a Bantam shirt are numbered.

 

If he is truly in MH's plans going forward, then utter madness that he is not starting again. I suspect he will be off next week

 

I said the same to a mate last night. I also said that if I was Cook (and judging by the subs order he's 4th choice now) that I'd be phoning my agent and getting myself the hell out of there.

 

Imagine the melt down if he went to Barrow, linked up with Jake Young and they shot Barrow into the top seven ?

Once again the Cook rumours rumble on tonight broken nose or not.
Someone is leaving tomorrow that's what I've heard, a player nothing more.
