It just completely astonishes me that some people continue to talk about the match like it's going ahead. Very little common sense!

I guess it doesn't help when some of the people continuing to talk about the match like it's going ahead are the club.

 

BBC weather says 3 degrees all afternoon from noon. But who knows in terms of microclimates.

i guess the bits of pitch in shade are the worry, but if they havent even called an inspection, why all the panic????!

According to the Beeb it’s going to “rise” to plus 3 at lunchtime and remain at that all afternoon.

Can't compare a prepared football pitch to a back garden. You may be eating your words a little later

 

Imagine any inspections will be about 10:30-11ish? To call it in time for the away coaches to set off?

How do you know the pitch is frozen solid. I'm sure the covers have been on last few days.

In fact if the pitch was frozen solid it would have already been called off

 

But they can't make a call based on a forecast, I don't think. They'll look at the pitch any time now and of its not playable, it'll be called off.

 

Given its generally the same areas that cause issues would it make season to invest in a cure? Can we invest in a thicker cover for that area, more heat lamps for that area or even partial undersoil heating etc if it's always only that corner

 

True but if it's borderline, they may well factor that in. It's been the same every day this week. The ground where I am has been frozen solid until late morning and then by mid afternoon it's been soft. If it is called off which I suspect it will be, it'll be a shame because by 3pm it will be playable.

 

FFS not another Saturday without a game. Lets hope by some miracle its on.

We live in a country where it rains a lot and is very cold for at least two months of the season and is likely to snow.

It's time the FA stepped in in some way with all this money swirling around to say x amount from this years revenue share goes to mandatory pitch equipment to ensure games go ahead unless there is real adverse conditions.

It's been done through the tiers with amounts of terracing and seating, it should be done with the pitch too.
