Jake Young loaned to Barrow

He won't be allowed to play as part of his loan, and I'd wager it doesn't cover the playoffs

 

Doyle was a well proven goalscorer for years before he joined us and like many, for what ever reason it did not work out.
Young is a player with very little behind him, still time to come good though, but needs to knuckle down or he will go the way of many a young footballer. No pun intended.

 

I don't think it's a case of people making out that he's better than he is, but he's certainly no worse than some that have continued to play but have offered less in terms of goal threat. He needs to be playing and if that means going out on loan to get some game time then so be it, I just think it's a bonkers decision sending a player with a point to prove to a team on the same points as us.

 

Not for me, Doyle had scored 20 a season in the right system and a player sought after throughout league 1 and 2 we just used him wrong. Young has 2 league goals, he reminds me of Patrick when he was here a couple of good goals and does little else.

 

Wells was a virtual unknown for Carlisle when we signed him, look how well he did. There’s always that chance

 

As did Ross Hannah and many others. Young has played a bit of league football by now I wouldn’t say he’s unknown he needs to do a lot better.

 

He is still our player for 2 more season's after this one. Clearly not in the plans at this present time but if he goes well , we get a player back more in form , or he adds to his sale value, which i think is currently zero.

Strange Barrow only have 6 on the bench but no Young maybe they didn't sign him in time to play today at Orient.

 

Also runs down blind alleys, gets frequently bullied off the ball and coughs up possession in dodgy situations.

 

Correct move.

I like everything about this.

Hopefully he scores a few, gains some confidence and experience (starts over sub appearances), and comes back a better player.

 

That's about home grown players. You lose a sub if you dont have any or it could lack of players. Either way not sure why we have loaned him to a serious rival.

 

Just heard Sparkies post match interview and I agreed with him, the kid was not happy with regards his game time and obviously in Sparkies opinion he was not going to be getting game time with regards our recent recruits, he did say he hoped Young helped get Barrow results against fellow promotion hopefuls, to which Jamie Raynor said that would make Barrow serious contenders and be challenging us for a play off place, to which Hughes said that's up to us to make sure we get the right results (or words to that effect).

 

I don't get this view. Lots of clubs sign young players on long deals because the opportunity presents itself and then, if teh player isn't making an impact, that player goes out on loan to get some experience.

I sometimes wonder, if we've forgotten this is how a successful club operates. This is now the way of doing things for us, in order to make sure we take the correct steps for the long term.

 

There were 5 clubs who wanted Jake Young this window. I wonder what they all see that Hughes doesn't?

 

It will be interesting to see how the kid does at Barrow for what ever reason Hughes didn't think he was good enough to start or sit on the bench yet the club gave him three year deal which I find strange with our current situation IE we have no other player making any sort of constant contribution goal wise apart from Andy Cook.
If we'd brought him to the club and said we believe you need to be playing on a regular basis so we think it would be better for your development to go out on loan until January and we'll reassess the situation knowing we had Angol, Cook, Oliver, Harratt contesting for the one striker role.

 

For whatever reason Hughes doesn’t rate him so it’s best he goes out but whether it should be to a promotion rival I don’t know

 

Also scores goals. 8 last season winning the league with Forest Green and 4 this season as second top scorer despite very few appearances.

 

A player that can score goals. But as a certain poster keeps reminding us, there's more to football than scoring goals.
