If that was the case then there would be no risk to clubs signing injury prone players and no need for medicals.

see article here which suggests it’s the clubs that foot the bill, not insurance companies.

I was just going by this

    Do Footballers Have Injury Insurance?
As footballers are seen as valuable assets to their clubs, most professional teams will insure all of their players in the event of an injury.

Purchasing insurance for each athlete will help cover the player’s salaries if they cannot play due to injury or illness. This insurance will often also cover situations where players lose their lives or suffer from injuries in tragic accidents. Every Premier League club takes out a ‘catastrophe cover’ which is triggered if three or more players are injured in a tragic accident.

Professional players may often also take out their insurance to cover any potential injuries or long-term issues which prevent them from playing

One memory Port Vale away that's it for me the rest of his stay at City consigned to the bin.
Hindsight is great but Lee was a poor, poor signing.
    No great loss.

Good bit of business by City this.

Good luck to him, but as warned by fans of other clubs, he was far too brittle to make much of an impression for us. I was amazed we offered him a new contract in the summer to be honest

As has been said I'm sure the club will have some sort of insurances in what can be a very risky business in terms of assets. And nobody seems to ask of the mental wellbeing of players, in the case of Reeves, who was out over a year and more if I remember. Human being at the end of the day, not someone's plaything to kick when they're having a tantrum.

Again good business by the club got him on a free and got a fee for him, similar to Kelleher got him on a free and got a fee for him, both signed by Derek Adams .

With regards Jake Reeves most fans (including myself) were asking what sort of injury could keep the lad out that long as there was little information coming from the club, as it turns out it was not a physical injury the lad had.

    A) He didn’t chose to get injured
    B) He was the one player with a bit of quality for us last year
    C) Its not his fault he got pushed on to the wing when he’s clearly a better target man
    D) Even if he was fully fit, not a single person would be saying they’d want Angol to play instead of Cook, who is our top scorer this season
    E) When he is fit; he isn’t getting many minutes. How exactly is he doing us a disservice by getting off our wage book?

“Fee” wont be much, nor will it for Kelleher, but makes sense to get him off the wage bill

I hate how nearly all transfer fees at this level are described as undisclosed. Time for clarity on these transfer fees

Was angol in a 2 year deal at city. If so that’s good work to get him out.

Is it going to make a huge difference to your life to find out that we got £2.86 and a multi pack of Mars bars for him?

    For me, there's one rule.

Were they professional, and did they maintain a positive impression for the fans?

If yes, they will always go with my best wishes.

Even Kai Brunker, the worst player I have ever seen, went with best wishes.

If they were like Anthony O'Connor, though, or Jordan Gibson, or Devante Cole, I'm glad to see the back of them.

This is why fans get frustrated. We need to be planning for the future and we're accepting Mars bars in exchange for players.
    Should have been creme eggs.

Good luck to him and hopefully his hamstring troubles are a thing of the past. We knew it was a risk to sign him given his injury record and it didn't really pay off. I had thought that with us going to 2 up top lately he would be an option as that 2nd striker alongside Cook/Oliver but there's a lot of competition for that 1 new striking slot and if we revert to a 4231 then he's not going to be first choice for any position so it's not too surprising to see him head somewhere else.

In our new era of Sparks initiated transparency we should see it in the accounts. Maybe not a breakdown per player but we should at least see the total amount received which will give some indication as to how many zeros are on the end of the deal.

Probably because none of the money goes into City's coffers, just pays up the costs involved in the transfer.

Anthony O’Connor give this club good service and I didn’t like the way Jordan Gibson was advised I think he is as good if not better than what we have now
