How about there no8, after the clash of heads with Cookie, prostrate on the ground, jumps up like zebedee, Rochdale played the dirty arts truly tonight.

And that defeat is on those players tonight. Rochdale wanted it more.

 

Well I've heard it all now , nothing to do with the defenders making sure they get to any rebound first, Lewis did his job our defenders didn't.

 

any team worth there salt would have torn that team to bits .......... they where poor full stop ........... I bet not one of us was concerned at half time ........I bet the likes of the top 3 would have torn that lot to shreds..............sadly we got suckered in to dropping down to there levels .......... had we shown the same fight and passion like the two previous games we would have seen that game out easily .........

 

What’s the point in chapman ? What does he do ? Gets subbed every game and never makes any impact on the game . Complete passenger of a player .

God what an awful night and for what it’s worth if the dale pen was on the other foot we’d be playing hell not getting it . It’s clumsy when the player is heading away from goal . Carnt decide on the city one . Need a better angle . The ball running and then stopping makes me think one of them must have touched it . The spin on the ball indicates it was the defender . That second half was up there with the worst 45 of the season . Absolutely blew it

I disagree , right in front of me and a penalty in my eyes, certainly more of a penalty than the one he awarded 2 minutes later.

 

We really need that game changer in midfield, especially if we stick with the diamond. Sutton is not a promotion standard CM, he'll give you energy but little quality and has about 30 good minutes every 3 games. Gilly has a decent turn on him and can get the ball out to the full backs well, but he's never going to change a game of drag the ball 20 yards to get the team going. Neither have a presence but look at the bench, there's no other options other than Songo'o who isn't that type of midfielder either.

 

Whom was the leader on the park. Who took the game by the scruff of the neck. Pushed for more?

All that money wasted on Smallwood, chapman and walker. What a shower of shite that three are, more creativity in a primary school nursery class.

Halliday is a liability, think that is the 3rd or 4th pen he has conceded this season and he is frightened to death with the ball at his feet. Two full backs needed in the window.

Platt was awful, second to every ball and generally three yards slower to react than their striker. He looked a proper Sunday league defender tonight.

Hughes and Hodges ballsed up them substitutions up good and proper, either wrong sub at right time, or right sub at wrong time. Too reactive and not proactive enough for me. They make a change or try to adapt once the game has gone from us instead of when it's going away.

Says a lot when Sutton is second best player on pitch simply because he looked like he gave a shit.

Well I am really fed up of this. I want our team to rule out the penalty/poor decisions. We were promised attacking players and goals. That is what is missing here. We also need a captain on the field. When we go a goal down we just roll over and let them tickle our tums! It is not on, I demand more, I am fed up of waiting for our club to produce a team and manager we can get behind. We have invested big time, over the years and still we wait. The glorious 17,000 will be no more if this continues.

The discussion about whether our penalty appeal was a penalty is a useful one.

For me, on a PC monitor, it's quite clear the Rochdale player does not take the ball. Not only is that my interpretation, but there's no way a player sliding in like that can somehow touch the ball and kill it stone dead.

But, other people disagree.

So that tells me it's a marginal call, and it's League Two referees, they don't have VAR, they don't get a replay... whatever, move on.

However, there's isn't even marginal.

It can't be a penalty, it's impossible.

Their lad is all over ours, and all he achieves with his foul is to get ahead of the player (Halliday) that he just dragged back. He never has the ball, never gets close, and goes down as soon as he's completed his foul.

That is astonishingly bad.

@wetherbywhaler, this is the kind of referee we should be appealing against ever having at VP again. Not just for that one decision, but for utter ineptitude.

They were excellent VFM in the PL days

I think their player actually gets some of the ball as he slides in so for me its not a clear foul on Eisa and why on earth is Halliday piling into their player in the box? Just stand up and follow him out of the box. Gave the ref a decision to make. He has done that more than once this season-it's a clear flaw in his game.

We threw that game today in true City style.

Only good things out of tonight's game-Eisa and Walker.

Funny moment for me was near the end when their player rose from the edge of death like a salmon. It's a miracle.

 

Conditions were awful tonight but sadly too many of our players had the same attitude as thousands of our ‘fans’ and simply didn’t turn up.
