I can only judge on yesterday's performance, but McAleny was excellent. Maybe he thrives in front of a big crowd?

Unlikely to happen now, Rod. Dennis and I exchanged posts on it earlier. Here's the latest.

Very entertaining game yesterday and Salford certainly played their part.

I'm liking the look of the new formation and more direct play. Will MH deploy this away from home?

If we have a sniff of being able to sign Tyriek Wright on a permanent, that would be my priority this window or in the summer. He is a class act at this level and would certainly be fine at the next level.

I thought Gilliead had his best performance of the season today, he was excellent.

I appreciate the effort and effect Sutton has had in the last 2 days, however, I still think we need better and would be great if we could secure a good central midfield player this window.

So pleased for Oliver, he has had to bide his time, he was very impressive today.

Great to see Walker back, again, a class act at this level, and I love how he gets into the faces of the opposition and winds them up at times, reminds me of Tony McMahon in that respect.

As for Salford, they have a few good individual players, none more so than the excellent McAleny yesterday. However, their keeper and defence were dodgy yesterday.

We are in a decent position going into the 2nd half of the season.

    Happy new year everyone

Let’s hope Hughes doesn’t use this formation to death and become the one trick pony (4-2-3-1), that was predictable and easy to counter because every team knew what to expect. It had surprised me that such an experienced manager, took quite so long to find a formation that suited the tools at hand. Mix it up Mark Hughes and keep the opposition guessing.

I thought Chapman played well as he does in most games unfortunately his woeful finishing let’s him down[/QUOTE]

They all played well as a team yesterday including Chapman. I may have been a little harsh in my comparison with Walker. It’s just that you expect and usually get opportunities with Walker, maybe it’s his cool head rather than the rush of blood we see with Chapman. If he could temper that we’d have a decent back up to Walker.

I think the 4-2-3-1 away from home will probably stick around, but being able to switch to the new diamond formation could bear fruits if we are chasing the game.

Agree about Wright, a player who was the supporting act when Pierera was signed, but has proven to be the most productive between the two.

I still think Elliot Watt is a class player

Hughes commented he is under no pressure to get bodies out of the door in January during his post match interview.

With regards Walker Hughes said he'd lost 4 kg over the period of his illness he was never a big lad I was surprised he made the bench with that sort of weight loss you don't put that back on overnight.

I sometimes cannot grasp why they would move to a bigger stadium if they cannot fill the one there in .............. unless they are planning to give away fans 8,000 tickets ..........

Best ref we’ve had all season. He let the game flow.

plenty of 50:50s that nit picky refs pull up and slow the game down, be let them go.

We got away with a couple of tough tackles tbh.

folk keep going on about Northampton but that day they faced a very poor team in us ............. how many teams have come down here and we’ve made them look half decent because we’ve allowed it to happen ?????? Put it this way if Northampton faced us now with the system we are playing then I doubt they would get an easy ride ...................and for how amazing they are we stand 4 points off them on the back of not winning at home for near on 3 months

Chapman just batters my head in .......... his shooting is poor he doesn’t pass the ball at the right time ........... it’s crucial now that Walker stays fit he’s a far better player full stop

Remember the Walsall game very well, I went down to training on the Friday and as the players were coming off another fan who was watching was speaking to Proctor, I asked him what Proctor has to say and he said Parky was not starting him he would start Hanson, Saturday came and Hanson got a hat trick that day, we repeated exactly what Parky had them doing the previous day at training.

Compared to some we’ve had down there he was really good but that basing it on the crap we’ve had ............. would rather have a man who will let it go on whilst ignoring play acting .......... if more did the same then we wouldn’t get half the theatrical diving we get

Both Neil Wood and McAleny were at a different game to me, the last 20 minutes was all one way which at 3 - 2 down you would expect the losing team to throw caution to the wind they had nothing to lose, but even then with a fitter Walker I believe he would have scored and put the game to bed.
With regards our third goal he quoted we try to find Cook why didn't he tell the big lump to drop back and mark Cook, what a pair of whingers, what was ironic on one corner for us he had Smith stood on the halfway line for the out ball come on our lass has more pace than Smith, Salford contributed to a cracking game of football which could have gone either way but it didn't we put 3 of our chances away they converted 2.
