The formation change has really benefited particularly Smallwood, but also Gillead... they were both immense today. Though, and I hate to say it, but we need better than Sutton in that position, despite his energy. Crichlowe seemed like he was taking the proverbial at points today and I'm a fan of Platt. Oliver to start and Cook to finish defnitely the way forward. Things, dare I say, are looking up! Up the chuffing chickens, to paraphrase the best keeper in the bottom two leagues!

I know it’s not the best away following but considering the size of the club and where they’ve come from it’s never gonna be amazing is it .......... and add that arguably the biggest club in the planet it right on there doorstep will always cause you issues ............ last season for a club our size we took a paltry 300 to Walsall so let’s just put that into context .............. glad for Watt once he went there it was plain to see it was down to money but then again I think the majority of players are like that anyhow

actually think that Cook coming on after Oliver has battered the Fook out of the centre backs will help ............... so the question is where does Derbyshire come into it ??????

Thank goodness we have done a deal with Town that he stays until the end of the season, must have been very near MOTM award, although no one had a poor game today.

Well what a change, first time I’ve really enjoyed a game this season. Played really well, plenty of energy and desire and a lot less phaffing about between defenders. As usual referee got most things wrong but at least it didn’t effect result or spoil the game

I'm glad remembered (more so in the first half) the way to deal with Watt is to put him under any pressure whatsover. Technically good but has some very glaring weaknesses, would take Smallwoood over him every day of the week and twice on Sundays

Sutton covered so much ground Salford must have thought there was 2 of him on the pitch, The work rate of him and Gilead starting to give us the edge at last in games.

I thought the ref was great today, let all the niggly stuff go... which was particularly in our favour given we were niggling at them most of the game. Reckon most refs would have been pulling us up every other minute most times

    Agree with you buddy.

It almost makes it seem like a club in Salford City wasn't needed...

Hence it never happened organically :)

Gilliead has three very good performances in a row.

Can't complain about the quality he's putting in at the moment.

The missus pointed out that not only did Platt and Foulds struggle when Crichlow was out, so did Smallwood and Gilliead... but certainly Sutton has reinforced the midfield as well.

For me, most important player on the pitch from a defensive POV is definitely Crichlow.

He'll come on for Tyreik Wright if we're playing two up top.

He'll surely be playing off the shoulder of Cook or Oliver - he won't be competing with them, I don't think.

I thought Salford contributed to a great game of football, if teams park the bus we wont see that kind of football unfortunately.

I've always been a big believer in you need at least four quality strikers to win a league and we have two max at the moment so we're still lacking even playing one up front and should Derbyshire come good

Best game I have seen for ages.

    Deserved to win.

    Great formation

    Great team spirit.

    Great determination

Have we turned the corner now? Hope so. Look what the team can achieve when the players are playing to their strengths

Walker oozes class and was unlucky with that effort that squirmed wide. Squares up to Watt at the end-I think he said he should have signed for a big club.

Also liked how we were happy to take a booking to stop their play.

Over all very pleased especially with the contribution of all the subs to be fair.

Depends how well he does... ultimately it doesn't matter how good any of our players are, if there's someone better they play

Or that great effort from Smallwood, we were right behind it and it swerved away at the last moment hitting the post with King well beaten.

Cracking game of football. Fair play to Salford for coming to play and not park the bus.
I missed the Harrogate home game so this was the first I've seen of our new formation. It certainly seems to suit the players much better than 4231 did. Wright gets involved in the game far more playing centrally up front, which has to be a good thing.
What I particularly liked was how we mixed things up - sometimes long, sometimes wide, sometimes though the middle. We looked so much less predictable than before.
    Onwards and upwards (hopefully).
