I know football can change quick but last season when he goy injured Johnson said he was in his long term plans. Started pre-season. Can't see him moving.

 

He's scored 3 Championship goals in 33 appearances. I can't imagine they would be that desperate to keep him given that he's considerably underachieved at that level and is probably earning a high wage. I doubt we'd be able to afford him anyway, he won't be cheap.

 

I've always said not to take your comments too seriously, but now you are just being a wum, there is no need for bringing the likes of McCall into the debate to try and win a point.

Yes I enjoy a bit of banter with fellow fans but you have to question some of the stuff happening at the club, we are two weeks away from our opener of the new season and although I understand pre-season is all abouts fitness it is also about your senior first team squad players getting game time. Trying things out against opposition rather than on the training pitch.
We have on paper a squad that should be above midtable but watching our preseason unfold the question is are our footballing coaching side up for it.
Both the T&A and the YP have done articles with Greg and he's saying he will be there with them in the dug out if needed, I'm not sure he will be the influence some think he will be if things don't go to plan.
We have seem around 45 minutes of potential first team players performing together, less Charlie after 8 minutes, I was beginning to feel positive but after that fiasco yesterday you have to ask, do the powers that be at Valley Parade know what they are doing and that's not just because we got tanked.
Why was there no quality on the bench just in case Harrogate started to run the game, that can't have done anything for those kids yesterday except left them feeling very low, just what you don't want with a new season two weeks away.

 

Football is rarely predictable but understanding your players has to be a given in my book. It was ill judgement to suggest they could contest. Decisions need to be made.

 

I agree preparations have been poor probably due to the time it took to appoint he coach. But with a behind the doors match in Tuesday and Carlisle at the weekend it can be brought together and with the signings made we have every reason to look forward to the coming season. Not many teams have done better than us in the transfer market this summer

 

I agree that with two more games coming up for the 1st team we still have the time and opportunity to get them used to the systems and each other.
To suggest however that the poor preseason prep is down to the late appointment of the coach is not going to wash.
I thought our new model of management meant we didn't depend on any one individual.
In the absence of a coach probably Abbo should have sorted preseason out. Maybe he did

 

Grayson said he was doing it at the end of last season. As it happens we are just one competitive first team match away from what is needed but we do have a lot of new players

 

Most experienced clubs arrange 2 preseason schedules, One for the first team squad against lower league clubs and then one at least a league above to finish at home with a crowd,
Then a second schedule against non league sides for the youth/development players to gain fitness and for the coaches to judge them to see any progress made

 

Ellis Harrison leaving Bristol Rovers for Ipswich for 1.6m after scoring 12 league goals last season. I still think 1m is a bargain for Wyke.

I honestly think we will go for Toney and Hiwula to replace Wyke. Both for about 300k each and bank the rest.

Players coming the other way, clubs want too much for and we will not pay it. We will look at those two types of players of doing well in this league as they have experience of it and then sell them on in a year or two

A striker force consisting of Toney, Hiwula, Miller and Jones sounds average at best.

 

Hope not. We'd then be left without a striker who you can depend on to get 15+ goals. Wyke for Hiwula and Toney is a massive downgrade
