Call me old fashioned, but I hate zonal marking too. 2 players on the posts and man marking for me

 

Seems a few are pulling Harrogates following to bits ............ bear in mind that it’s a market town and not long ago they where down the non league pyramid and let’s be right the place is full of Leeds fans anyhow ............. sometimes it’s the talk of being high and massive that fires these teams up ............amazing how we forget how crap our support went last season on the back of Adams 300 or so to Walsall hardly huge massive support from a club that has 15k season ticket holders is it ????

 

Sick and tired of watching 50 odd souls in the corner of the ground bouncing up and down while the rest of the stadium falls silent. It's like a violation. Seen it far too much in recent times.

 

I think they had their largest ever league following at City last season 850 ish IIRC. Apparently Bettys Tea Rooms was deserted.

They are definitely our bogey team and I dread to think how tonight's game will end up.

Accrington are another of our local bogey teams who we rarely seem to beat. I recall we played them in an evening league game at VP-might have been our first ever league meeting? They beat us 3-0 and had a following of around 50.

By the way who are your BBC radio presenters and expert? They could do with reading the team sheet when subs are being made.

Finally I was at Brunton Park the last time we beat you.

First away game after the awful events on 11.05.85-we took loads and it was a rare sunny day in Carlisle. Still remember it like it was yesterday. So emotional in many ways.

Me too. Had a horrible cold virus since Christmas Day, feel rubbish no appetite and no energy. So we will watch it on ifollow.

I genuinely think he has to change it tonight and I think he will.
It’s alright being stubborn and sticking to your principles but the line between being convinced your system is right and refusing to change and realising that the players you have either can’t play it or don’t like playing it is a fine one.

Sticking with it when it clearly isn’t working isn’t stubborn it’s deluded.

 

His problem is now getting a set up that suits what he has at hand. Always think a back four is a necessity in league 2 so that leaves a permutation of the upfront and midfield 6. Cook has to start so leaves 5 places up for grabs. I'd also say Chapman has to start somewhere in that 5.

 

I have a feeling we'll go with a back 3 tonight.

Surely one of Banks or Wright has to start as well.
Which brings us back to the elephant in the room,
Our central midfield 2.
He has to accept that these 2 just don’t get it forward quick enough.
I still think Smallwood who is admittedly struggling at the minute,with the right players around him is decent at this level.
For me Gilliead has to be dropped tonight.
We just aren’t mobile enough with those 2 in the middle.

 

I actually think there will be a change in midfield if not then nothing or little will change what’s he gonna do rotate the wingers like he normally does ?????? It’s a waste of time doing that if the issue remains in place

 

They seemed to have an upturn in the last few weeks and scoring goals too. We will have to be on our game to get a positive result.

 

Most people who live in harrogate have never gone to bettys, including myself .

Even with zonal marking there are some basics that we have failed with - players stationed on the posts and two defenders near the corner taker to prevent a short corner (admittedly the second seemed resolved at Carlisle)

We must be the only team to have 11 players back for a corner yet still be dreadful at defending them.
