Whilst I also agree, surely your sentiment that, games shouldn’t be arranged at times which ‘excludes a few thousand from attending’, then Summer football would cause that?
Surely most people take their holidays between June and September, so that would prevent so many from getting to games during the busy holiday season?

A game called off in an extended period of negative temperatures. Not overly much to consider in honesty, especially as a lower league team

Most people only have a 1 or 2 week holiday so would likely only miss 1 home game.

The winter months are miserable enough. As poor as we have been i still look forward to the football, especially under lights.
It wont happen , but there is enough money in football to sort all its problems. A 10% levy on players wages at the top end , shared out among the lower clubs for infastructure issues would go a long way or similar on transfer fees. Pipe dream of course.

As a follow up to my last post, thought i would check the latest premier league wage bill.
Over £3.5 billion. 10% levy £350 million , or just short of £5 million each per efl club.

Best undersoil heating in the world couldn't save games if the area outside the ground is deemed dangerous to the public. Crazy to think there could be times where the pitch is perfectly playable but the game is called off.

To be fair I think it’s a while since we had a game called off with frost so they must do some good. The last game I can think of that was called off for cold weather was a home game with Crawley when spectators weren’t allowed in during COVID. That was in 20/21 season and the pitch was fine but the ref was worried about the Crawley coach coming down the hill in freezing conditions. There wasn’t a game off for frost in 18/19 or 19/20 so the Rochdale game is the only game off for frost on the pitch for over four years.

I'm all for health & safety but as an adult I should be capable of making my own call, having said that we got a delivery from Evri (who were Hermes carriers) yesterday, I have a video bell that picks up motion at my front gate, my phone went off when I opened the app the delivery man was was struggling to say on his feet because of the black ice, he said he's had to deliver a few parcels on all fours the black ice was so bad.

I'm quite enjoying the postponements tbh. Prevents City for ruining the run up to Christmas!!

But we only play Rochdale at home once a season. That is the only game that has been subject to a postponement at Valley Parade this season.

Most people go away for two weeks. That is Saturday to Saturday, so would miss out on three Saturday’s, potentially two home games depending on the fixture list (and maybe an away fixture they would normally get to).

Additionally there could be a home Tuesday night match during that period.

Just a side note, those supporters who couldn’t get to a Tuesday night match, would be able to catch it on I-Follow.

Lets face it there is no simple solution.

Sadly because of factors outside the ordinary supporters control, it’s virtually inevitable that they can’t get to all the games.

And those supporters who think it’s too cold or pavements too slippy or buses / trains not running can also watch on iFollow. That’s their personal decision to make.
Anyone who thinks the pitch was frozen at 3pm on Saturday are simply the gullible brigade who just love decisions making for them.
And this comes after the EFL decided on the whole countries behalf that we should cancel games because the queen snuffed it.

Who the hell do you work for ? Mr Scrooge. I'm missing six home matches due to holidays and short breaks. If we had summer football I might as well write off half a season.

And quite right too. Hopefully the whole programme on 6th May will be cancelled so we can watch a once in our lifetime event ie the coronation

Firstly had the game gone ahead on Saturday you are correct, that Supporters could watch the game on I-Follow. That in itself is an anomaly, as there were no Premiership matches on. Rightly or wrongly the usual practice is for a ban on I-Follow Saturday afternoon games.

The pitch was assessed by an Independent Official, the match referee, who decided it was unplayable.

Decisions are made by referee’s about all aspects of a match. So it isn’t a ‘gullible brigade’, but every Football Supporter, who’s experience at a game is affected by the officials.

If Andy Cook had played and because of the conditions underfoot, sustained an injury (avoidable) which kept him out for months, then the ‘rage’ of City Supporters, who just knew the surface was unplayable would be akin to a Tsunami!

I don’t know anymore than you about the precise condition of the pitch. But as a general observation, then only Leyton Orient and Barrow, held fixtures on Saturday. All the others were called off far earlier than City.

Having 30 days annual leave doesn’t mean you can afford 6 holidays a year Mr “I’m unaffected by cost of living crisis”

    Nonsense!
Move it to Sunday 12.30 kick off. See how the Orient fans like that for their promotion party.

Didn't say that did I ! Just that we have short breaks rather than big holidays. Because of the cost of living..............

No such thing as a cheap holiday nowadays. Even a short break can cost £300-400 each
