If you watch the highlights, Platt was already committed to kicking the ball before the ref blew his whistle. The decision was very harsh. Had the whistle blown sooner and Platt still kicked the ball then a second yellow would have been understandable.

I agree the referee had little choice once he kicked the ball away but the Mansfield players made it difficult for him if he wanted to give Platt a second chance with a word in his ear, I would think if it had been a Mansfield player we would have done the same it's modern football to put pressure on the referee, I though during the game the referee had let worse challenges go and played on, which I understand is what referees have been told to do.

I retract my comment about Platt being stupid.

    The referee had a stinker.

Hope we don't get him again for years.

Thing is he doesn't even look like he's "booting it away". He looks like he's playing on and playing a ball out to the wing.

Certainly that's how it looks through my slightly claret and amber tinted specs.

I agree. Normally, yellows for kicking the ball away happen when the ref has blown, play has demonstrably stopped, but then the player kicks the ball away in a manner that could never be confused with a normal action. Platt's kicking of the ball looked to me like it was the ball he was going to play anyway, and he'd probably committed mentally to doing it before the ref blew. Very, very harsh, and a reflection of the ref's self-grandiose performance all night.

Apologies to Lewis I thought he dropped the ball for their goal but after watching the replay he couldn't get to the low ball before Swan scrambled it in.

The question for Sparkie now is does he play Timi along side Critchlow or does he bring Song'o in for Platt, for me Songo'o hasn't done a bad job when called upon.

Has to be Songo'o mate. At the moment I don't have much faith in Odusina.

Get a grip. I went last night, and it was the best atmosphere i've been to this season (only missed 2 away games so far)

It's refreshing to see the passion, and it carries through to the players. Bonding between fans and players is one of the key ingredients to bringing success

That would be my preference at the moment, you knew when Sparkie brought Songo'o on he would defend every ball knocked into the box, along with a certain Andy Cook back there doing his bit for the team defensively.

I was at the game and the yellow for Banks (for throwing the ball down so Halliday could take the throw) also wound me up.

Only a few minutes after the sending off we forced a throw from a counter attack and as Banks went to pick it up their full back grabbed it and threw it another 6 yards back up the line so he couldn't. In effect, time wasting to allow his defenders to get back. The result? Nothing.

5 minutes later a very similar incident and the result? Another yellow card? Surely time wasting is time wasting, regardless of the score line?
