so he’s had to games one game or probably both where he got no service ........... yet Cook whose done the same thing over the last 3 games is given a free pass ?????

Listen you can go back to when he’s got goals but he’s clearly not getting them now and I can put it down to teams have actually sussed us and him out big time ............... if me and you had to go up against us you could get your tactics spot on ............ so why can Hughes not see it ?????? We may have the odd good game where we batter someone but I can put money on that yesterday won’t be a one off :( it’s happening to much for my liking ............ and until he helps Cook out then expect more of the same ............ if teams are gonna high press us then we need someone that will hold it up if we do go long and sadly Cook ain’t that man :( I said weeks ago that he should be out of the team unless he’s used in the right way you know creating chances for him but sadly that’s not happening .............. so let me put it CLEARLY Andy Cook ain’t the problem the wank system is

We really need to look at our set up when defending a set piece.

If we had people on each post then they would not have scored yesterday from that free kick.

We have to make the opposition work harder for their goals. At the moment we are not managing the game well enough and have lost 4 vital promotion points in the last two home games after going ahead. That cannot carry on for much longer.

If we do not go up this season we only have ourselves to blame.

clearly your not getting my point I said Cook needs help so in needing help you play someone up top with him not drop him play someone up top with him .......... Btw that top scoring bollocks is just fooking boring now our top scorer has got 2 goals in his last seven games and done fook all for the majority of them ...... but hey keep him in for the rest of the season and you can still bore the shite out of everyone for what he did in August / September ............ fooking comedy gold is harping on about a man whose having no affect in the last 3 games FACT

Your difficult to follow at times one minute you want to drop a player you say is not up to it because he's not scored in 3 games for a player who has shown little during his game time at the club.
Where have I disagreed with going two up top, and with regards quoting Cook being out top scorer once again fact like it or not.
Take Lewis out of the frame and who has had an mfluance/effect on our last 3 games.

Lets be honest, a decent side would have would have taken more advantage of our generosity. First half we gave them chance after chance, just off the back of an opposition simply pressing upfield. And yet for all our failings yesterday we created enough chances to win, Cook, Wright and Smallwood missing what were pretty easy chances. Hughes is right in wanting to stick with his strategy, he just needs to sort out that central midfield so it allows us to play at a higher tempo. All our attacking midfielders like to run at players at the tempo we play yet they're getting to much ball with back to goal.
Theres a lot to like about this team in the periods when we do play well. We just don't do it enough yet.

You do have a point. If Cook had put that chance away no one would be questioning his performance yet his only difference yesterday to some of his other performances this season was he didn't take that chance. He's literally in the side to put that chance away, if he doesn't the game can pass him by somewhat. Although he wasn't the only one guilty of missing.

Raynor's instant reply should have been "and how many have we won?" Followed by "and how many goals have we scored since the two at Harrogate at the beginning of October?"
Possession stats must look great when passing across the back four, forward slightly, then back to Lewis.
We must be top of the league with those stats.

The issue with playing two up top means we lose any width we may have.

442 will just not work if played with genuine wingers, the two CMs will simply be over run unless you pick wingers/wide players who are willing to the donkey and get inside. The only two that are genuinely likely to do that are gillead and Sutton, and no_one wants to see a middle of them plus Smallwood and east.

It means the only real option is 5-3-2 with halliday and foulds wing backs, unless we can train Sutton and gillead to fill them roles instead.

Obviously the problem then becomes, without the widemen, what good is an Oliver and cook front two?

Listening on the radio and Cook's name was barely mentioned all match.

At the risk of repeating previous posts, he needs players to provide assists and at the moment the combination of Wright, Pereira, Chapman, Smallwood and Gilliead isn't right.

I have some sympathy. Hughes clearly saw Odasebe and Walker as starters. If those two hadn't got injured I doubt we'd have gone back for Pereira.

At the moment Wright seems the most productive of those 5 above in terms of assists and goals. Smallwood is the captain. So it would feel like change has to come from switching Chapman, Pereira (I know he scored yesterday) and Gilliead or switching the formation because as others have said, we are not creating enough clear cut chances and Cook cannot cross the ball and then run and head it himself.

Well your cure didn’t work! I was upset last night, not because we only drew but the manner that happened. It was MH post match assessment, it felt like we had been transported back to last season with Adams when you wondered whether we had watched the same game.

Wright was quieter than normal although Crawley knew of his threat and dealt with it cynically. Periara did have a better second half where he seemed to link with Wright. But then i thought we looked better as soon as Banks was introduced, i think Halliday benefits from a proper wide player and Banks gives you that line ball that all full backs look for. Chapman is just starting to look to boss games unfortunately he was having to drop to deep due to the inneffectiveness of our central midfield to get him the ball in attacking positions. I've not seen enough of Osadebe yet but we know Walker will make a massive difference when he comes back.

it’s massive relying on Walker though that bothers me he may take a fair few games to get up to speed does anyone actually know when he’s back playing

We don't want to rush him back like we did with Eisa and Angol last season.

We could switch to the formation that most sides use that win anything and is a proven formation if you have a coach and manager who understands how to use its options and fluidity

Sadly I think you are right. The loan isn't working out for club or player. It's a pity because I do think he could come on and give us something different, but tbh MH seems so set in his ways I can't see any point even having Harratt on the bench.

He made a mistake. It proved costly. East was possibly a better option yesterday. But to say he is a moron? Disagree. I remember Gary Jones setting up Port vale years ago with a terrible back pass they scored from in a game we lost. He wasn’t a moron. Neither is Gilleard.
