A bit of a strange one coming just days after a 'hoax' announcement that he had died.
TBH I thought he was already dead.

So did I! I suppose it's because his stuff has a real 50's sound to it. I thought he'd popped his clogs a long time ago. RIP. From memory, he was a bit of a wrong un. Some great tunes though. Seem to remember watching a good film about him with Denis Quaid as Lewis.

That would have been quite recently when John Pennington owned the old Mecca I know the guy who looked after the artists when they appeared at Pennington's he has some great tales of the artists who played there mainly Americans, Jerry Lee, Chuck Berry, Everly Brothers and many more.
Chuck Berry wanted a curry and a pint of beer, I believe it was the Sweet Centre they then went for a curry then onto the The Melbourne pub and had a game of pool to the surprise of a few of the locals , I believe someone passed comment on the old Claret & Banter forum that they were in the Melbourne when Chuck Berry walked in.

I went to see Bob Dylan in Nottingham last night, that was the first I knew Jerry Lee Lewis had died when Dylan announced it.

Dylan did an encore (he NEVER does encores, ever) "I Never Can Say Goodbye", just perfect.

Did you frequent Wibsey back in the day I was a member at both the Liberal Club and Wibsey WMC behind the Market Tavern, Dave Lee was a Canterbury lad originally I believe.

Lived and drank in Wibsey for many years Always interesting on weekends. Played darts and Dom's for the Forrester's at one time. Pass through in the car from Leeds to Moore Ave now and again but does not look the same after all this time

Few of the areas in Bradford look the same @trevor@trevor, as for having a beer on a Friday night Wibsey village was great, starting at the Dog & Gun top of St Enoch's, down to the Upper George, on to the Forrester's, nip over the road to the White Swan popinto the Wibsey Rugby Club, back over the road again to the Windmill, down to the Market Tavern, follow the road down to Odsal top and the Top House or go down Wibsey Bank taking in the Hare & Hounds then around the corner to the Woodman, over Manchester Road to the Red Lion great days mate.
