    Sure does!

Like you suggest, Stevenage of last season don't look to be a patch on Steve Evans' Stevenage - beating last season's offering easily and doing the same again this season is impressive work on both counts - but I think when you're hammering the 2nd place side 3-0, that's worthy of extra praise!

The important point about Saturday's win was getting our noses in front early. That meant we didn't have to suffer 90 minutes of non-stop shithousery from Evans and his team, because they had to attack us and not just timewaste. It also gave us the space to hit them on the break.
Scoring early is definitely the key to countering teams that come here to park the bus and timewaste.

Last year Stevenage played under Alex Revell a bloody stupid system. 2-2-2-2-2. I can’t to this day fathom how it works. Look back on his time there and you will see it mentioned .

Agreed, OCD, and we scored early at Tranmere too - but at home, it's even more important, as teams will come for a point. Go behind early and that option is out the window. They HAVE to score.

But we've scored in the first 7 minutes against Stevenage, Tranmere, Hartlepool, and Newport.

Not bad, almost half of our games!

By the way, did anyone notice their keeper getting told to speed it up on the VERY FIRST goal kick?:laughing::laughing:

Evans, always managing the dogshit way.

Thought it was a good game on Saturday, and most of Stevenage’s good attacks were as a result of us handing it to them on a plate. Some of the passing out of defence was atrocious, and Stevenage were unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions.

However on the other hand when they did push forward they found our defence to be pretty formidable. If Cook hadn’t have got two goals then Platt would have been MOTM for sure, I thought he was magnificent.

Overall, a very pleasing afternoon’s football, and a great win in a game where we actually didn’t play brilliantly. I reckon there’s more to come from us yet, and then we’ll really start to make people sit up and take notice.

Any of the trio could have got the bottle and I wouldn’t have argued but it probably boosted Wright’s confidence no end.
    Wright
    Platt
    Cook

Smallwood had a good game, so did Gilly, so did Chapman ( his best in C&A so far)

There were some great displays against a difficult style of play to combat. Effective but ugly?

Wright was sponsors MOM announced at the game but Cook was ‘player of the match’ on social media after - is that announced after a fan vote online?

    What do you think?

    MOM at the game.
Social media is just a bollocks thing.

saying that for weeks we do get an early goal then basically the majority of teams game plans go out of the window :) the time wasting going down faking an injury and add the time it takes a goal kick are well and truly out of the window :)

What’s this “Player of the Match” crap that the club are coming out with these days. Why are they no longer saying “Man of the Match”?

It's the next woke/political correction bollox, ITV started it followed by SKY, all just to cover if any of the players might be 'confused' now or at a later date...

I share your view. Is it for LGBT reasons/political correctness or is it because the club want to differentiate it from the Sponsors award?
