Agree completely JB. Most teams in this div are happy to accept an away point but that is not in Mark's ethos. The subs he made last night were designed to win the game. It wont always work but is it a change from the recent past.

What are you on about? Gillead is always putting a foot in - he's full of energy and everywhere at the moment... and then the rest of the time he isn't having to get a foot in because he's read the ball and got there first. The biggest sign of how well he's doing (if you are missing it during a game) is how much we struggled in the middle when he was out

Read my post back. I was quoting a specific point in the game when he went into a tackle half heartedly, didn't win the ball and they got their first chance of the second half. That was what happened in the match. Watch it back if you like.

Yeah, he's been doing that his whole career by the look of it.

I agree with those that want to bring in another CM to partner Smallwood, but atm Gilliead is the best we have in there. It’s a shame that little snake Watt pissed off as I think they’d have made a good partnership and maybe the best 3 in the league with Walker.

But that’s all in the past for now we can only control what’s your come and Gilliead starts with Smallwood every game imo.

Watt made the goal for Lund last night. City players flying.

I actually am hoping it was a pen...and the ref blew time instead of awarding it. Was great timing, and for sure annoyed the Tranmere players (as it would anyone). Great job ref! Thank goodness we don't have that VAR nonsense at our level.

Big fan of Critchlow but he seems to me to look a bit tired at the moment.... give him a rest. Songo won most of his headers when he came on and Timmy time is looming methinks...

On the post you said 'in general terms, he doesn't like putting his foot in', but that's not the case he's always putting his foot in and tracking back to make a tackle.

I think (in an ideal world - being very greedy given the signings we've made!) we need another two quality centre mids, but I think Gillead would be then challenging them for places. When Gillaed was out we suddenly looked short in there

What is this obsession with resting players.
No player wants to be rested for fear of not getting their place back.
I don’t recall Liverpool resting their top players in the years of domination during the 70’s 80’s whilst playing on muddy pitches and travelling all over Europe.
Likewise with Man U in the 90’s. Giggs, Keane, Scholes etc played almost every game no questions asked.
So if Crichlow is tired after 8 games on pristine pitches then it’s a poor do.

I was replying to the one where you said 'in general terms', I wasn't arguing there wasn't one specific example where he might not have done or responding to the post you said there was one specific example he didn't do this

I know Lund played for us, but he’s one of those that I just can’t remember in a City kit. Couldn’t name a thing he did for us.

Ok, so he generally runs around a lot but in that one specific example his lack of tackle nearly lead to a goal?

Their manager admitted the ball bounced off the floor and hit his hand. Not hand hit ball. No pen in my book. Bout time we got the rub for once!

You may be correct that players would rather be playing but unfortunatly for them sports science can be the ones who make the call.
I was reading an article with regards a player running the show for a team and the manger taking him off, in his post match interview he was asked why he took said player off and the manager said if he'd had stayed on and played the last 20 minutes or so it was deemed by the sports science guys he would not be capable of keeping that sort of performance up for 90+ minutes in the next game.
Hughes has made it quite plain that's his intention with regards keeping players fresh.
And to be fair you can't compare the fitness levels of players during the 70 and 80s with players fitness now a days IMO.
