In his only outing for Luton this season he played very well apparently as wing back

    He's definitely a prime candidate.
I don't need to keep up you can hear it in the stands home and away, add Oliver to the list a striker who is still to score a goal for City.
Who'd have thought it hey.A forward with little service so he must be crap.

We played to his strengths late on Tuesday and he was a real handful, up top in a 2 as-well different player

Agree but for some it's not good enough. If Cook's rich vein of form hit the buffers suddenly it would be interesting.
Would he get the same treatment verbally? I'll let you the readers decide the answer to that question.

We have a fan on Cooks back right now even though he is banging in the goals. Like all clubs we have our village idiots who are never pleased no matter what.

Cooks been great. Like a new signing. I’m thinking if he hadn’t, I think we might have dipped for a loan striker, but I’d say we’re probably not going to sign anyone next week. Can’t really see a position we’re short on. Holding mid maybe, but Gilliead is doing well, and we’ve got East waiting in the wings.

Not necessarily, all 3 could play together and all 3 would be very interchangeable. It'll mean we lose a bit of height and pace in Angol or Young but it could be very effective.

Cannot read the article, what reasons does it give for Hughes not to be hopeful?

Real shame if we cannot land him. I hoped based on his form and that he seemed to enjoy his time at the club last season this might turn into another season loan then something more permanent. Longer term he’s certainly a player I can see been effective at L.1 level if we were to get there - not sure I can say that for all of our current contracted front players.

Mark Hughes lodged his interest with Luton in bringing back the winger for a second loan spell as soon as last season was done.

But with only five days to go before the transfer deadline, it appears to be a lost cause.

The Bantams chief accepts that Pereira is likely to be playing at a higher level this season - unless there is a late change of heart.

Hughes said: “We placed our interest very early on in the window but Luton have every right to just wait and see what options there are for their player.

“Our information is that they’ll be looking to place him in League One or higher.

“He’s been in and around their first team in some of the games of late, so that’s probably where they see Dion’s career progressing from this time on.

“You never know, it may change but I think that’s where we are at the moment with where Luton see him playing this year.”

Now that would be some attacking intent and with Chapman, Young, Eisa and Osasebe in the squad too we’d be some team to watch.

Thanks @Inspector@Inspector . Wonder if Hughes feels he’s covered if Pereira doesn’t happen or if this is a case of if someone he rates becomes available he’ll be interested, otherwise he sticks with what he’s got?

I presume if Luton find a suitable league 1 club to loan him out to, Dion, would have no choice to comply as he is under contract, even if he fancied coming back here instead.

Dion is 23, not an 18 year old kid straight out of the academy. This season is absolutely vital for his career. He needs to be somewhere where he plays every week, in a style that suits him and under a manager who can get the best out of him. He gets all three here and with five days of the window left I don't see him finding that anywhere else, especially at a higher placed club.

Really? You don't see a single L1 club being able and willing to give him a regular starting slot? I hope you're right, but I seriously doubt you are.
I doubt he'll have much choice tbh. If a L1 club comes in for him on loan then he'll probably have to go there, whether or not he'd prefer to come back here.
