No Salford are throwing money around like confetti, but he is wasting 2 years of his career here. Championship teams were looming at him and he's taken 2 steps back for the cash

Another footballer who puts a couple of extra quid ahead of his football, also another sugar daddy club on the scene, brilliant.

Why is he wasting two years of his career? Depends what you define as a career? Earning as much as you can, or playing as high as you can? He could potentially put himself in a bigger shop window at Salford and have a great time scoring for fun, under a decent manager, and English greats

It will take him minimum 2 years to get back playing at this level if he stays with them. We were chasing him as we're others in our division and some teams in lower championship were sniffing. He's not moved for the prestige he's moved because of the money

One good season and clubs will come calling. He could go higher, not play, go stale, get relegated etc.

Apparently Lloyd is on 4k a week. If you go to Darragh McAnthony’s twitter account he says that Lloyd earned 80k last year for his first season in professional football and called it peanuts ...

Spoke to a few lads I know last night who support fc United they seem to think Salford budget for the forthcoming season is going on towards 3 million that's crazy for non league football. As for Danny Lloyd going to Salford remember posh signed him from Stockport so basically he is going back to where he knows so with the money offered as well its a no brainer.

Even financially, I'd argue it's a poor move both short term and long term. He was by all accounts outstanding last season and was only in his first pro season. If he had kept up the good work it would have resulted in an eventual move to the Championship and I'd be shocked if Salford payed higher wages than Championship clubs. Long term, loads of average players earn their last few lucrative pay days after being signed off reputation (Hanson, McLean etc) so the better his CV, the more financial security he has when he is coming towards the end of his career. If he truly believed in his ability and had some ambition, he would have stayed for career progression which in turn would also make him better off money wise.

I'm with you if he has gone to get £4k a week who is anyone to question his reasons, good on him usually you increase your salary by going to a bigger club in a higher league, but in this case he's going back home.
Someone said he had a very good job before he played professional football so earn good money for X amount of years then return to what he did previously.

My dream growing up like a lot of peoples was to be a professional footballer, he got that and called the money he was on (£80k) peanuts, a slap in the face to most normal working men and women who really do get "peanuts". So yes actually I would be happy with that sort of wage playing professional football over non league for more money. Plus there was interest from league clubs who may have been offering more than he was on, but i'm sure he was more bothered about going to the highest bidder than playing at the best level possible.

Yes I saw that, poor form and shows his character, especially as the chairman had done nothing but wished him well. Some don't have much gratitude though tbf.
