Yes, and Chapman looked five times as dangerous when he was switched to wide right.

I'm delighted that MH showed the flexibilty to switch the system, showing he isn't totally devoted to 4231. It completely opened up the game and gave Hartlepool much more to think about. Chapman suddenly looked a different player and even Angol got some joy on the left. All very encouraging.

I was very critical of Andy Cook after Christmas, last season. He was clearly overweight and dreadfully out of form. The ball was bouncing off him and he was winning very few headers. But he now looks razor sharp. He's chasing down everything and must feel like a total menace to defenders. Two bloody cracking finishes today.

put the ball in the box and cookie WILL score, Harrat needs to start next game instead of Angol, he is a threat when running at people

It's a shame for Angol that his fierce cross shot didn't go in. He looks very down on confidence and that might have helped to raise it. It was a blindingly good reaction save from their keeper, which is what happens when you're out of form.
But we did indeed look much more threatening when Harratt came on. Can MH bring himself to start with two strikers? We shall see

To your earlier point on Chapman looking better out wide - could Angol not play centrally? Against Colchester, when he came on he was getting deeper and not doing badly bridging midfield and Cook. He could also push further up to be some kind of front two with Cook at times.

Chapman doesn't seem to play well centrally so it feels like we need to try something else while we wait for Walker.

Angol at no. 10, Chapman on the right, Banks on the left. Could have possibilities. And Angol could also be a target to hold the ball up. I really like Harratt though. We need to fit him in somewhere.

They should have started today, the kid Harratt certainly made a difference when he came on, a great run to collect Smallwood's long pass ran into a great area to put a simple ball in for Cook to do the rest.

Definitely. I made the same point after the Colchester game. Chapman looks pretty clueless in the 10 role and Angol just looks lost out wide. He seems to have lost his pace and his confidence to take on fullbacks, which he used to do for fun.
In the second half today Angol spent a lot of time drifting into the middle and looked far more comfortable there. I really think he needs to be played centrally, either as a twin target with Cook, or behind him, or not at all.
Having said that, Harratt looks really dangerous so I'd be starting him over Angol at the moment.

I think @trevor@trevor has something against Oliver if it hadn’t been for him Cook might have come back in the same state as last season. Cook is doing everything and more than can be asked of him but players can get injured and lose form so I hope Oliver when he gets the chance steps up to the mark. I think the change of tactics today would have suited him

I am still not completely sure. how this team will work out this year. We look naive at times and the defence is a bit of a worry for me. We will score goals, as we have riches there i think, but we need to get someone on the score sheet on a regular basis other than sir Andy , as inevitabily he will have a lean spell.
6 games in , 3 wins 1 draw and 2 defeats is a reasonable start, although it should be 0 defeats. Hopefully the team improves even more as they gell and Hughes'y finds the correct formation.
