I mean, it's nice enough and all that and I know that the idea of an away kit is that it doesn't look like the home kit and we've often had black or white away kits in the past and hence I can see the stripes echo the home kit so black and white stripes sort of makes sense but... it kind of feels like this is a leftover from Macron's failed Newcastle/Grimsby/Notts Co etc pitch.

It's actually significantly better than those three, have you seen the Notts County Kits!

thats how they all work, though, even Adidas! The new Bayern away is Real’s away from few years ago. Carbon copy design.

If I could arrange things to my liking, then:

I have to mention the home strip here, as it is the yin to the away's yang (as it were)...

For me, the home strip would always focus on our distinctive claret and amber. How the colours are arranged matters less, but stripes over hoops over quarters over other designs, with the one exception of the Lister Mills design that has been posted on here a few times. That I would gladly adopt as a permanent home strip, or at least a permanent third strip.

Colourful and distinctive home leads to a plainer, simpler, though still identifiably BCAFC, away. White with coloured trim, in essence. Last season's home strip would do for me, or its Toy City forerunner. They're both pleasing to the eye, and our colours are still obviously there. So long as we have that, we won't seem to be any other side that wears predominantly white.

What I would not do is combine colours and design in such a way that some other side is immediately and inescapably brought to mind. Black and white stripes are e.g. Newcastle, Grimsby, Notts County -- adding some claret and amber accents doesn't change those associations.

I seriously don’t get the issue with it compared to the vile creations we’ve had in the past ........... we’ve had white away on many occasions and some belters but was that an issue
I think it’s smart and Macron putting the black, claret and amber on the sleeve and collar gives it that retro feel not far off the kits of the 80s

It’s growing on me the more I look at it.
I’ve never been a fan of the dark away kits in recent years, eg claret/blue or all black, as I felt these could have been a disadvantage in night always games with players not being able to see each other. So the new mainly white kit is better in that respect.

I’m not keen on the Regal branding on the shorts, but I think on the home kit we have a “outline” version of it which looks much better.

On old kits, I did like the old black away shirt with the amber shorts - great away kit that one.

I wonder if they will wear the away kit when we play Sunderland that might spice the game up a bit so it doesn’t get the friendly affect

Presumably Sunderland will want to show off their own away shirt. Unless it's claret and amber stripes, of course.

Beat the Makems then ask if we could have Diamond on a season long loan.

If that happens, I wouldn’t care if our away kit was a blue and white striped Tesco bag!

Grattan ones in early 90s at a push. All white with a black collar. Which is alright. It’s generic. It’s the stripes that create association with other teams identity. Anyway I’m over it now. Looking forward to the season whatever shirts we wear.

Going for £££s on EBay now. I still shudder thinking of the trip to Oxfam with a bag of shirts (including both of the above AND the blue diamond one) twenty five years on.

I’m guessing you grew a pair at 15!
