If Cook stays, he's at least on the bench. Can't see both Young & Harratt getting there in front of him.

Sutton is always a strange one to me. I really like him but not sure why he is often classed as a defensive mid. He has a good work rate and likes to get his foot in, but for me his main attribute is his pace and unpredictability in attack

Songo’o we’ve seen is not good enough. Sutton is more attacking. Gillead is not the answer. So yes, I think we need a player in the similar mould of Smallwood alongside him.

We need more goals from midfield and Gilleads one goal a season is just not good enough

He wasnt good enough under Adams. Hes probably a CB now but can do a job as a back up DM.

No way we are signing another CM like Smallwood when we have Osadebe, East, Sutton, Gilliead, Scales and Songo'o if needs must all fighting for 1 place in the 11. We are L2, you need to be realistic.

Signing Oliver is the biggest indication yet that Hughes doesnt rate him.

He will be playing in a more defensive role this season where he did well under Hughes

Aye and why do we need goals from him when he has signed 4 or 5 all capable of double figures. I dont think goals will be a problem this year.

East will be the partner to Smallwood in most games. He’s the deep lying playmaker we needed after Watt left

    Before a team is picked
Adjacent to Smallwood perhaps? It just depends on the formation.

Angol won’t be the lone 1 up front as long as Oliver is fit imho

Swap Angol for Eisa and stick Oliver upfront and thats a good starting 11.

I like that, a flexible front two almost. Angol is far better coming in from the left.

I think the 'Club Developed Player' rule is still in force, so we will need to include, in the matchday squad, at least one player who played for at least 12 months with City prior to the end of their under 19 season.

That probably benefits the likes of Kian Scales.

Interesting about Scales. Last season was not a good one for him but so far since the restart of training, his name keeps popping up in things I’m reading. It seems generally positive and also comments about how he has filled out. I think he might surprise a few people this season.

I thought he was a forward but appears to have dropped deeper
