I thought about him but I wouldn't describe him as rapid. Wasn't slow by any means though.

That's me sold, good times ahead:)

Serious aside from my poor effort at sarcasm and not aimed at you Kevin but we know little about these players, yet SOME indulge in total excitement. 121 goals Barrow and Hartlepool conceeded last term and both finished in the bottom echolons of the league. Maybe, they were "stand out" players at their respective clubs but the base is low.

Context is needed. These two CHs may work but equally, they may not. If Smallwood gets injured/suspended where is the solidity in front of them.

Now I hope I'm proved wrong here and they form a great partnership (assuming they are the starting 2) but I'll say it now, I'd rather had POC in that 2 with Smallwood in front, especially with a worry at RB.

These two have 81 league games between them across two seasons (28 in L2 for Timi in one season and 53 for MP in two seasons). Not exactly bedrock of said teams.

Come on Dave. Next season we are gonna be like one of Dan Skelton’s runners after he’s given it a breathing op ;-)

I'm not bought, yet. Happily proven wrong..

Lots of excitement but a CH combo of 81 league games, from two poor teams. East in CM with 10 games but Watt, over a 100. A keeper with no league experience. I could keep going on.

    LOTS of question marks.

Simply listing the number of games played means nothing. The 2 CB's might only have 81 games between them whereas Watt had over 100, but what percentage of that 81 were good performances (quite a high one based on comments by Barrow and Hartlepool fans) and what percentage of Watts over 100 were good performances (not that high according to most City fans).

Hartlepool fans don't seem that fussed, bit like us with Watt from what I'm reading - disappointed he's gone to a rival L2 side, but not exactly the glowing reviews on Twitter or their forum that some seem to be claiming/expecting?

    Supposedly rapid. Stats are okay.

But the good news seems to be he improved a lot last season, so that might suggest he's very much on the up. A lot of the claims he was prone to mistakes seems to have come from an earlier time?

Majority of comments Ive seen seem positive. He was Pools young player of the season so must be doing something right.

Sadly it’s a Bradford City thing some go all out to find a negative in everything
Watt has gone yet we have replaced him with a far better player ........ negative just sums some of our lot up tbh ............... the sad thing is a few certain folk will dying for it to go wrong so they can tell you I told you so

we have now a United fan base for the first time in years
A top class manager whose only managed at the top
A squad that is nicely coming together rather than the miss matched panic but we have had to endure over the last few seasons

yet it ain’t good enough according to some

Is it negative or are some looking to be constructive /objective in the signings? Are some being overly positive, without acknowledgement of the potential limitations of the new signings?

This attachment to Hughes is a concern. No doubt a superb player, a decent PL manager but unproven at L2.

Remind me, who is Watts replacement?

I genuinely hope the masterplan comes to fruition. Like yourself, be over the moon.

Context. I've highlighted above my POTENTIAL concerns of the two CHs.

I know you have, then you've posted some comments to supposedly back that up. I don't think those comments are necessarily negative or overly concerning. He's a 22 year old with bags of potential but he's obviously going to be prone to the odd mistake - just like POC was.

Without a doubt. But Park, I'm talking about two CHs with limited league experience, together with a novice in Lewis behind.

Spine. It may work fantastically. Especially with Smallwood in front. I'm not looking to be negative, it just looks raw.

Initially, SP posted "Majority of comments Ive seen seem positive"

I've not seen such a conclusive comment base across SM platforms.

Again, to reiterate, I hope it works. I'm lacking knowledge on said players above so forming an opinion and reservations based on other fans. Just like many of us are doing, irrespective of our viewpoints on the incoming players

The law of averages suggests a few of our signings won’t be up to the mark but we needed to overhaul the squad. We couldn’t keep on with the same underachievers and expect better results.

we can’t replace, in the numbers we have, with a squad full of Smallwood’s. We’ve seemingly focussed using our budget on attacking quality with the additions of Chapman and Walker, and a solid lynchpin in Smallwood.

We have taken more gambles in defence but I’d argue it is far easier to organise a team of iffy defenders to tighten up (just as we did last season) than it is to turn ineffective offensive players into effective ones. I think we’ve got too many defenders as a back up policy. If a few are no good, fine, we’ll rotate them out of the XI.

we’re banking on Hughes working his magic but he showed last season with turds he can polish. There is every reason for optimism this year.

get the lads over to Spain for a jolly up, then thrash them hard and get them fit for the end of July. Then sit back and let the good times roll.
