The Government will need to be able to raise revenue, if there is a huge drop in demand for traditional petrol/diesel fuel. I assume that there is some way they can do this with Hydrogen. I don’t know all the technical specifications, but the issue with electric vehicles, is that although the operating fuel is clean in respect of emissions, the batteries are apparently extremely toxic.

My bet is road pricing. That way the Government will get tax from petrol/diesel and road use for traditional motors and just road pricing from EV's.

I suspect Hydrogen and Electric vehicles will be light years ahead of where they’re at now, plus the infrastructure to use them within the next 10 years. Unless moneys not an issue they’re a bit of a luxury that most can not afford and will be out of date in 10 years, I’m holding onto my petrol car and running it into the ground, hopefully it’ll last that long and I’ll save a bit every year to make the carbon natural deadline(2030 is it?) and buy or lease one around then.

Fully recycled when life expired. I knew this when I did my homework before buying, so as to ensure I didn’t leave a legacy for others to sort out.
It’s worth a read, however I can’t comment on what Musk, the Chinese and Koreans are doing going forward

    The BBC link won’t open!

It will stop looking good as soon as extinction rebellion realise the damage mining the metals required are harming the planet. You just wait until great thunberg wakes up and starts spouting about child exploitation

No one seems to be wanting discuss the energy and slave labour involved mining the substances for these batteries but then that wouldn't fit the narrative. Lets just gloss over the bad bits. As Wetherby Whaler alluded to I'd like to see Hydrogen invested in, I know Ratcliffe is building one of the new grenadier models with a hydrogen power plant. As much as I think a change is needed to the traditional internal combustion engine I'm not happy with the situation around the battery manufacture and the whole recycling scenario

Perhaps like me they aren’t aware, perhaps like others they don’t care. Look at my link re recycling batteries for VW. Strange thing is who has given a second thought about recycling the millions and millions and millions and millions of 12 v car batteries which populate the world. Nobody is the answer! We cannot have it both ways.

What happens to current car batteries when the cars are scrapped?

Last time I was in Bradford I noticed they were bringing in low emission zones. Does that include VP which would affect adversely people driving diesel cars
