Where has this Smallwood rumour come from?

I've only seen him linked with Peterborough outside of Twitter and this forum.

The City Vent tweeted it last week the day before Harrat signed. It was promptly taken down after about an hour. That list contained Harrat, Osudebe (who signed today) Timi Odusina and Richie Smallwood. I get the feeling someone from the club saw the list and promptly asked for it to be removed, as not to scupper any unconfirmed transfers, yet the list has been accurate up to date

 

Well I guess the other three are extremely realistic, Harratt, Osadebe and Odusina are cheap options.

I'd be impressed if we did get Smallwood, he'd be the best signing so far outside Jamie Walker.

I’ve just done a bit of digging and Smallwood came through the Boro youth set up and was there until 2014, before spells at Rovrum, Blackburn and Hull.

When Stephen Gent arrived the quotes were that he’d been at Boro over ten years.

It’s likely they knew of each other at the Boro.

Not suggesting that’s the reason why we’ve been linked, and I agree, this would be a far fetched target……but thought I’d mention the Boro tie fwiw

 

Solid link, which makes it plausible that someone has spotted that and made it up, or for some reason Gent and Smallwood actually have a decent relationship.

Like you say, doesn't seem likely, but fair play if it comes off (or if it's already in the bag).

It's not a stupidly big name or some ground-shaking marquee signing, but definitely a player that could be playing higher up the pyramid and that is deffo welcome at VP.

I’d say 2 at the most likely. The same for POC and CV. Pre-Season starts in less than two weeks so would like to think by end of next week official communication is shared on what the future of these three are in relation to City, even if they don’t know where their future lies.

Sparks has commented the deadline has passed for 2-3 of them. It will be preferable we all know so can move on before pre-season. No doubt the remaining players already know.

Whatever the outcome there is still a large amount of the window left open for us to assemble the squad for the season, with solid business already done to date.
