    The difference is under freedom of contract there’s not a jot we can do about it except judge when the cut off point comes. As opposed to Vaughan when the decision should have been made much earlier

    How many close seasons have we seen on this forum Mr X has signed for Team Y and they do absolutely diddly squit ? Not having a go at you but it’s endless!

    Don't disagree Jon. But my point was that if good, solid signings who've come from non-league football are pulling a quarter of a million a year in League 2 we're in a weird world.

    I would be very surprised if we could land Smallwood. I understand that there is quite a bit of interest with Posh strongly linked to him. I just cannot see him dropping to league 2.

    As for Odusina, not sure what interest he has attracted and to be honest don't know anything about him other than many Hartepool fans reckon he is their best player

    All I will say on Smallwood is he is 31 years old now, not a young man anymore and his last 4 clubs have been Middlesbrough, Rotherham, Blackburn and Hull.

    Seems he likes it in the north.
