Similar then to xhamster where people post pictures of their dearly departed rodent pets.

The Third is navy blue SP

Apparently One of the kits was meant to have a map of Bradford on it but Bradford council knocked it back as it had a HX postcode area (shelf) on the map . Would have been something a bit different

As City is a private company, and to the best of my knowledge receives no support from Bradford MBC, then I can’t see that they would have any power to ‘knock it back’. There are loads of postcode areas in North Yorkshire which have BD postcodes (up to Settle) and Bradford MBC areas, like Menston, Burley, Ilkley and Addingham which have LS postcodes! To be frank sounds a load of b**locks!

Could have been quite handy. We could have found our way back to Bradford when we lost.

Ryan was quoted as saying that the Council have been very helpful in the last 6 months and he can't remember a better relationship with them. Probably doesn't want to rock the boat.

We could be working with them on some other projects.

Could the decline of Bradford prosperity and the perennial failure of the team be linked to the absence of the boars head at all? I speak tongue in cheek of course... unlike the infamous pig!

For donkeys years the boars head was the de facto symbol of Bradford, eventually adorning the shield (later to become the coat of arms) accompanied with the motto, ‘labor omnia vincit' – 'hardwork overcomes all' in 1847. As John Dewhirsts's excellent
'Wool City Rivals' publication indicates, this maxim came to symbolise a Bradford mindset in all aspects of life, sport included.

A great civic pride amongst vibrant generations of Bradfordians existed throughout the period of remarkable industrial growth that occurred over the following century, the like of which propelled Bradford into the social and economical limelight on a grandiose level unseen before or since. I'd speculate that the striking image of a tongueless boar would have been etched into the consciousness of the city's inhabitants and would have represented power and success on a massive international scale.

The 'Bradford pals' who perished at the somme would have been identified as such at the time by the boars head mufti badges they'd have worn in battle and i'd imagine the boar would have been a symbol of the unity and brotherhood that had taken them all to that hellish place in the first place.

Obviously, Bradford was to endure a great decline in the latter half of the 20th century, recession hitting alongside mass unemployment - simultaneous with the withdrawal of the boars heads image from the traditional places it'd occupy, remaining evidence of this can be seen on the Victorian and Edwardian buildings that still survive in the city.

Could it be that this strong sense of municipal self-esteem once so prevalent in Bradford and now I'd argue, somewhat diminished, has any correlation to the dissolution of the boars head?

I doubt it very much like, but I for one would love to see its return. And who knows? Perhaps Mark Hughes's Bradford army may start to 'overcome all with their hard work', and it'll be the mighty Bantams serving league 2 opposition's heads on a platter next season.

I must say however, that I'd keep the name 'the Bantams' by the way. I reckon 'the Boars' would be much more aligned to a side managed by Derek Adams!

Sparks did a survey recently. Did anything come of that? Suggested to me that our club crest and nickname could be updated.

Id be happy with the boars head and paraders.

Aye, I remember the survey and recall having the results emailed back to me at some point. No mention of any changes made though. . .
I like the Paraders also, as for some reason I've never quite taken to the name the Bantams. Suppose its all a matter of opinion ultimately and to be honest, I'm not even sure I'd like them to make a change at the end of the day. In the name of the sanctity of preservation there's often too many things that could go wrong down that road.
Once outsiders get something into their heads... I recoil in horror at the memory of the new Hull owners very nearly changing their name to 'Hull Tigers'!

'The tongueless by boar etched into the consciousness of the city's inhabitants'? I'd suggest most Bradfordians which made up the vast majority of the areas population were struggling to either just stay alive or make ends meet in what was the city with the lowest life expectancy in the country due to disease.and.malnutrition. Last thing that would be on their minds is the contents of a coat of arms.

Does that make Mancunians an endangered species because they use the Bee as their symbol ? Isn't the Leeds Civic symbol an owl. That must make them a set of lazy buggers who sleep all day.

I quite like the Boars head and the nickname The Bantams but maybe change the motto to Jam Tomorrow would be more appropriate.
