I know it was the season before last for Platt, but he also won promotion with Barrow from the National League.

Not a bad idea at all, young players who know what it's like to (and what it takes to) win.

I know we all want some experience before the start of the new season, but I'd temper that with this: if it's a choice between starting a young, successful player or a leggy loser like Akpan, I'll take the gamble on the younger player.

Absolutely Jon, I know Walker and Songo’o are there but I believe we really need the 28-30 year old real “old head” in the middle of the defence or CM just to knit the younger players together . If this team , when finalised “ clicks” I can only see the team spirit boom.

Good point. Although, weren't all 3 generally squad players? Harratt came in when Proctor was injured. Young was backup to the the front at FGR. East played a similar sort of squad role to the one Sutton plays for us.

That said, they're all young, they'll have that positive experience and you'd think they'd all be on an upwards trajectory.

No signing is guaranteed to succeed but for the first time in years, we seem to have a proper strategy thats guiding our recruitment.

My dog bothering mates really rate this lad. Thought he would be around their first team squad next season and surprised he's gone to a L2 team. Also say for a young lad he's got a bit of attitude about him..

Can’t remember if it’s been mentioned already but I would imagine O’Brien’s development factored into this decision even if all the management from then are long gone.

Unsure about this one purely based on I know nothing of him, but what I will say is despite all coaches and managers in the game supposedly huge knowledge of the game many constantly sign clear dross and the clubs fans overall opinion is more often than not pretty accurate, I've lost count of the amount of players we've signed over the years where the other clubs fans are like thank god he's gone etc. And despite reservations with regards to the young players we've brought in it is certainly refreshing to see from the other clubs fans so many positive comments towards them and most disappointed they've left.

Not only is Kian a cracking prospect, but he’s a great character too. I’ve seen many Vale fans compare him to an excited puppy!! Quite accurate. You’ll love him. His interviews are ace. Zero media training.

When we played Swindon in the play-off semi’s, their team were arrogant beyond belief and were shooting their mouths off left, right and centre all over the media and socials, fuelled largely by bell-end extraordinaire Harry Mc Kirdy. Harry has that unique goal celebration imitating a machine gun. He did it right at our fans when he scored down at their dump. When we beat them in the replay, Harratt ran from the bench and ran across the front of the away stand machine gunning all their fans whilst all the other players celebrated. It’s legendary!!!

Good luck next season. We were so glad to be finally back out of that god awful league, and a team like Bradford shouldn’t be down there either.

Hope he scores a bag full for you then gets recalled in Jan and sent back to us!

People say a big part of being a professional footballer is confidence. Kian is clearly a confident lad.

See also Ollie McBurnie - looked 6st wringing wet when he was with us, but he’s a very confident lad and when he bulked up he became even better, and confidence played its part.

Kian is 19, and he’ll only get bigger and stronger. He’s got a Desperate Dan square jaw and in some ways he reminds me of a young Andy Cook. Intrigued to see what he will bring.

Kian’s dad has confirmed that the decision to send him here was Huddersfield’s. Looks like we have promised he will get the game time that he wasn’t going to get in League 1. Will be interesting to see who we start with up top come the new season.

I very much doubt it will be Cook. I think he has guessed as much perhaps?
