You were the one to say the club has lacked class since 2016. And still determine that is the case citing Twitter (he he) as a current source of reliable information that the club continues to lack class. ROD's wife HAS to believed as true what she tweeted?

I'm absolutely certain they'll have been told informally, but you would think there would be a phone call ahead of an official announcement.

I don't know exactly what happened, what efforts were made, or how many players did/didn't know, so I can't really comment.

Certainly something the club can learn from, though, if ROD in particular is unhappy about the way this was announced.

 

I don't expect them all to go, they're the ones I'd be happy to see go. And I'd trust our management team to replace them with better. And if a manager can make you disinterested you shouldn't be a professional footballer. In my working life I had my own standards and, despite working for some people I disagreed with on almost everything, those standards didn't drop. Those who've done that at VP can go for me. Just look at our midfield which, for most of the season was regularly outplayed, Gilliead, Watt, Cooke, Song'o, Sutton, Vernam. We've slated most of our players this season and yet now many seem happy for loads of them to stay. They're the ones who need to get real.

 

O'Donnell certainly seems more popular on Twitter than he ever was on here. He was always very professional, but it is quite a love in.

Well when you're changing key personnel as often as we've done under Rupp, you don't learn much.

Spot on, I was an advocate for a total fresh start with the squad, respecting those still under contract, however Hughes and Hodges has transformed quite a number of them. The irony is……Watt and Paudie were no 1 on my list to be shown the door. Not now!

 

If all of the players offered new contracts accept plus Pereira, it doesn't leave us much room for new signings. In that scenario I make it 16 contracted players that we had in our first team squad last season. Assuming a squad of approx. 22 first team players, that would mean six new signings on top of Walker and Pereira? Goalkeeper, right back, center back, two midfielders and a striker?

Doesn't sit right with me, but if we are going for quality over quantity we need to bring in some real quality and Walker is just the start.

 

If ROD was expecting a contract then more fool him. No game this year and not picked for the final game should’ve made it crystal clear his contract wouldn’t be renewed.. I think 99% of City fans knew his time was up…

 

Agree. Still as a club there’s ways and means to go about things, I don’t like players family members complaining about the club it never used to happen and reflects badly on us.

 

We were also quite happy to offload him to Hartlepool in January.

I’m struggling to imagine Mark Hughes not looking them in the eye, shaking their hands and thanking them for their efforts. Maybe the accumulation of being dropped by successive managers has skewed her impression of the club.

If it’s true then I agree, normally it’s a face to face confirmation. We don’t know if it’s true however. I have had to do it with staff a number of times…It’s not pleasant but morally the right thing to do.
If he thought, in all honesty he would get a new contract, he’s frankly deluded,but that’s not what this debate is about clearly.
