Could be a poorly worded tweet but looks like the budget isn't what Hughes was expecting

 

Imagine my shock...

I for one can't wait to be signing players from the same scouting pool as Barrow and Harrogate!

This is life under Rupp and his 'sustainable' brand of football folks.

His business plan goes something like this:

Sign promising manager with a good CV > Hint that promotion is the aim this season > Promise a strong budget > STs go on sale > Don't put money in > Budget is suddenly referred to as 'competitive' instead of strong > Sign Scunthorpe Players > Play exactly as you'd expect shit players would > Promise war-chest to strengthen squad in January > Sign more free shite > Sack the manager > Repeat

I do not interpret that as the budget has been reduced

 

Hughes ain't used to playing football manager with budget constraints. Wonder how frustrated he'll be when he finds out other clubs don't take magic beans as currency.

 

I’ll wait to listen to the interview to get a full picture, but McCall, Bowyer and Adams have all mentioned budget constraints in the past when dealing with player contracts. In fact just about every transfer window we’ve had the same type of comments so it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see the same themes continue under Rupp. This is a big reason we end up with 4th choice strikers like Robinson as top of our targets often have better offers.

Couldn’t get a full grasp of what to expect after listening tbh, the old cut our cloth according was brought back out. Sounded like Vernam is wanted but maybe hard to keep, Hughes keeps his cards close to his chest though so it wasn’t a famous McCall cards on the table type of revelation.

 

Or maybe Vernom, Paudie and Watt are players he would like to keep. All have been linked with clubs from the league above and their wage demands are above what we can afford to pay without putting too much strain on what is left for other signings.

 

That is exactly how I would interpret it
