Is that a dig at me for dissing chip shop curry? Or a dig at the Essex restaurant for serving it?

 

If you didn't have chip shp curry darn sarf what would you dip your savaloy in

 

Who said we didn't have chip shop curry down south? We did, but I never ate it because it's disgusting muck.
Saveloys are fine as they are - they don't require dunking. But if I did want to dip them in anything, it would be tomato ketchup.

 

Forgot to say that we went to The Fox at Menston on Mother's Day. Its no Michelin star joint, but it's always reliably good higher end pub grub for reasonable money. The Trio of Roasts hit the spot, as always.

 

My bad. Now about that savaloy. Do they still exist and if so do they do a vegan version with no additives?

 

I believe they do exist. But, since I rarely visit Essex these days, it's a fair few years since I had one. I think you know the answer to your second question.

Gravy so thick that a chip could stand up in it. And I'll be mopping up the excess gravy with some bread too.

 

Reminds me of my mum's braised steak and chips with onions with gravy. Mopping up the gravy with crusty bread, quite beautiful.
