We sorted ourselves out with Carling and pre-packaged Pukka pies, mate.

    Don't need that real rubbish.

Good shout, RC, I hadn't seen his quote until you posted it.

Absolutely, he's the kind of player we should be signing up. Definitely got the quality, and in a team with real balance he can be a problem for any L2 team.

He is the kind of player Rahic wanted too, the problem was Rahic ONLY signed this kind of midfielder and that's why we were so disastrously poor.

Luckily, Hughes isn't going to fall into such amateur traps.

Ridiculous pricing for a bag of bloody chips with a dollop of “something hot and spicy “

I was thinking from his time at Hearts didn’t he only play like one game in a year before arriving here?

Massive question mark for me. His injury record is poor.

He was good under Adams but for me I just want MH to do as he thinks in the summer. We need to improve attacking wise and he will make sure we do.

I don’t look at any of our current players and think that they have to stay next season.

I believe he was injured then couldn’t get back in the side?

Wouldn't read anything into it, standard comment in the press from a player on loan who contract is up at the end of the season. I'm sure he'll be keeping his options open then consider them at the end of the season and wouldn't be a shock if he had offers from league 1 clubs

Played okay on his few appearances for city, however when you look at his history, it looks like his best years are behind him, which is strange for a player at 28 years( he should be at his peak) but after featuring for Hearts in the scottish premier he's spent the last few years being loaned out and not making more than 25 games a season, also seems to pick up a lot of yellow cards. But if Hughes can get the best out of him and keep him on the pitch then he may be useful to us at this level.
But imo , of our current players only Sutton is worth keeping next season

This is true but it’s no big loss if he doesn’t .

I think MH already has a pretty good idea on who he wants to keep and whilst I agree there could be a case for letting them all go based on certain factors this season I have total faith that if Mark wants to keep them he has seen enough positives in their potential already. Good to hear he is already working on next season and you would hope any player worth his salt would want to be part of the plans MH has and it will be interesting to see which of the players offered new terms decide to stay

The article definitely reads as mixed messages, but my take on it is if we are serious about keeping him permanently then he is ours, as there is no way Hearts would loan a player out with his contract situation that they really wanted to keep. As someone mentioned about him on the way down this is possibly true, but we can only go on our first hand evidence, and on the way down or not he is miles ahead of average for L2. I definitely think the MH factor is playing a huge part as a pull also, which if true also with the MH attraction we could hopefully assemble a top end squad without having to pay over the odds for L2 top end players.

I was impressed with his debut as he stood out a mile, but subsequent games were less impressive (understandable with confidence being in the floor). I'm in two minds with this one. He's certainly better than we have but we don't know as yet what calibre of player Hughes can attract. If Hughes thinks he can do a job then all well and good, but if he can bring in better then it's win win. I'd imagine he won't come cheap so depending on the budget he'd be a no brainer.

Also the forwards lack pace. Walker isn’t the quickest by far.

    Some players don't need pace.

From what I've seen so far of Walker, he seems to have that ability to find space for himself and is calm and confident in possession.

Agreed. He’s certainly above L2 standard for sure.

You are correct but we are lack pace over all.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t consider signing in but wouldn’t be fussed if we didn’t.

Sometimes a player comes along who just seems the right fit and could be a legend. I have this feeling about Walker. His excellent weighted ball to Cook on Saturday was pure quality.
