If only Adams had been man enough to deal with the Canavan situation in a grown up way Songo'o might well be playing in midfield. The damage that idiot did to this club in his short tenure belies belief

Beginning to agree, each passing day. You are of course correct, not only did it weaken central defence, it's certainly weakened midfield because we don't have another defensive midfielder. They are vital at all levels, if you want success.

Does anyone know what the issue between Adams and Canavan actually was?

I get the feeling that Adams was seething over Canavans sending off. There were rumours of a fall out after that

I think the criticism of Songo’o has been way over the top yes he isn’t a centre half and his positioning is poor but he makes up for it with Effort last week I thought he+played well and by the sound of it again yesterday. It’s a guy playing out of position for the team

I wonder if Hughes has simplified his role.

And in fairness, in the past, anyone on a poor run have always wanted to play us. Our poor run waas actually worse than theirs.

I wasn't having a go at the referee, as you say he let the game flow but the lad Godwin-Malife had only just been booked so he left the referee with no choice but a second yellow, although some thought it could have been a straight red.

ROFL - you don't bet. It's actually a donation to charity not a bet. Let's say if he's out for more than 5 games injured it's 'bet' / donation to charity off?

No he's not a centre back and he's nowhere near mobile enough to play in midfield which is his supposed best position. His control is abysmal and his distribution (read hoof) the worst I have seen in our backline for some time. Lots of rash challenges and free kicks given away due to lack of mobility and need to play the enforcer role we supposedly bought him for.

We've probably got him at the wrong end of his career to be fair to him. I can't imagine he's been so slow and immobile for the previous ten years.

If you think he's a regular started in our midfield next season then either (1) you're delusional (2) you're delusional or (3) there is a midfield transfer embargo about to be enforced.

    £50 to charity?

Yes he is playing out of position for the team and does give his all. No doubting that.

Thanks Park, honestly I thought it was before the sending off. Didn’t he not play for 4-5 matches leading up to then “ with an
( unknown) injury. Maybe it’s me losing track of time?

Songo'o was typical Songo'o yesterday. Always putting his body on the line with some last ditch blocks and tackles but positionally suspect and atrocious in possession.

I don't know whether he'll be here next season, but he's not good enough to be the starting centre half or midfielder. I'm certain Hughes won't be interested in him as a midfielder as he's commented many times how he wants his side to keep possession and dictate games with good footballers. Songo'o isn't one of those.

He is contracted though, so we'd need someone like Adams to try and sign him if he's going to leave.

He might be fairly easy to move on, and if he is, I would probably do so. However if he stayed, I'd have no issues with his as a squad player. Definitely not playing in defence, though. Not once for me. Alternate midfielder.

From what I heard Canavan stood up to Adams in the dressing room after he called out Canavan and FCD on the radio and said he was bang out of order criticising players in public...

Canavan was onto Adams back in September in the aftermath of how Crankshaw was handled.

There was a thread on here and a few of us were aware and that's when the alarm bells started.

The clearance he did, which went about 200m vertically upwards, was a sight to behold.

If that’s true then yes out of order. Good managers in any profession or industry don’t do that.
