Mark Hughes - NEW POLL

Being Welsh myself , what i will say about Hughes is , he wont big himself up to be something he's not . Unlike a few of our previous managers ( Adams and Grainger come to mind ! ) Everybody get behind him , get this shitshow of a season over with ( hopefully in the same division next season ) and start afresh in the summer . ( Ps dont even give the players a holiday ,, they dont deserve it !! )

Interesting appointment to say the least and definitely the wow factor.

Optimistic about this as long as the promised investment follows and not just a sticking plaster, glossy advert to sell STs. Will be interesting to be a fly on the wall at training this morning, at least hope it gets the players to think.

Totally agree Olly, as I said in another post a lot more detail needed and a lot of questions still to be answered - but lets at least cling to some fresh hope, some of the moaning on here shows some City fans will never be satisfied and that constant negativity can be part of the overall problem.
We have been crying out for some positivity around the club and I liked MH comment that this will be a surprise to many but he means business. I am fed up with feeling flat about my club all the time so come on Sparky, kick us back into life!

 

To be fair I don’t think many managers will get a tune out of the current lot so I’m not expecting much of an immediate impact. Next season could be different though

I'm happy to eat my words. I said no high profile or quality managers would be interested in the job and that the best we could hope for would be Wellens, Evans or Morais. Pleasantly surprised that someone like Mark Hughes is interested in managing our club in the state it's in.

 

I did read what you said, I just didn't necessarily agree with it all. You are choosing one or two examples. I could pick out quotes from the likes of Peter Crouch and Charlie Adams which contradict your assessment and actually bode well

 

You've ignored my posts about giving Hughes a chance and hoping he'll have access to loanees from premiership clubs then? Probably because it doesn't quite fit your narrative.

I don't want to moan about the club. I want to praise the club. And when they start acting in a manner that deserves praise, i'll praise them. We've had a string of similar statements by Sparks, including several about 'not accepting mediocrity'. All we see is mediocrity. The situation at the club is beyond flowery statements, it needs action. Lets see if we get any.

Now, if you struggle with the concept of a discussion forum being about a range of opinions, you might want to bugger off again for a few months.

Or maybe just maybe now Rupp has decided Now’s the time to maximise the clubs potential, only way to get his sale price. To be fair this one time, credit where credits due to all concerned

 

I'm not unhappy about the appointment Bronco. Its an interesting appointment. I'm intrigued. My concern is the same concern I've been sharing since we sacked Adams; without proper change, no manager is set up for success here. I want to see what will change with Hughes at the helm and whether he'll be backed and set up for success in a way that none of our recent managers have been.

Let's not be fickle here. Within the last few days (if not longer) we've been unanimously talking about the systemically broken nature of this club, and the possibility of fan boycotts to drive a change in ownership. Things aren't suddenly fixed as a consequence of appointing Mark Hughes. Its not the main problem that needs solving.
