    Roy McFarland paid off, so did Trevor Cherry, although I get they were both PM’s

    As someone said, certainly left field. But hey I’ll give the bloke a chance. Plenty of experience and that’s what we all wanted? Right?

    Likes spending money but usually badly. So I guess a good fit for you as that's buying badly has been pretty much the norm for you recently

    That should have surprised everybody!

    When he was a PL manager, my impression was that he always appeared to be splashing the cash (and not always successfully). That seemed to be his way of getting his team out of trouble. He'd better get used to a different way of managing in the khazi!

    We don't have the players to fit ANY system.

    Not sure what to make of this appointment. He's managed at the very highest level, he's played at the very highest level. There were no standout candidates for me anyway. Lets see how he does. The real issue is, despite the words of Sparks in this announcement, he won't be set up for success.

    I’m staggered. He’s not in the Robson or Stapleton category. He’s lifted the club to a new level. Just put Sky Sports News on to see. A really positive statement by our club.

    Why ambiguous? Not a criticism of your post but I'm not sure 'ambitious' is the word I would use, in context to previous managers.

    Well it’s a big name. Assume he’ll help attracting players-Gareth Bale in the summer!
    Should be connected to bigger clubs for decent loans hopefully. but we do need someone for DOF or recruitment

    TBH with the way he likes to play he would be a better fit than most of your players. Probably less injury-prone too
