7 years of Rupp later...

 

I said on here a few weeks ago I really feared for our survival this season even after the couple of wins we got to get to 40 points.
Think @Idlebantam was one who said there was no way we go down. We look closer to the trapdoor than ever not in terms of points really but performances. And we all know how this can carry over into the following season. Look at our time under Grayson then we couldn’t arrest the slide the season after and we finished dead last.

Something has to change and Sparks is not the answer either. This club is a dead man walking and we are sleeping towards non-league. It’s happened to big clubs before and we won’t be too good to go down if we continue under this ownership. Mark my words. We are awful on and off the pitch.

 

I’m in for a mass boycott rather stay in the pub anyhow then venture down there ......... sod the planes hit him where it really hurts and that’s his own pockets just stay away and then they may start panicking regarding season ticket sales

 

For me like Jon said, its boots on the ground.
Quite clearly the message isn't getting to Rupp from the CEO and the board so its them, unfortunately that need targeting with a mass protest outside the stadium, before and for the whole of a match.
Banners for any tv presence and noise, lots of it to get their attention.

 

A walk out/non-attendance is a good start, however, when it's blatantly clear so many are already not attending I'm not sure this is the big gesture intended.

Though I agree with hitting where it hurts in the pocket is the most sensible way, I think we need something that can be an image and be made repeatable to ram home the message.

Something like coordinated throwing of tennis balls onto the pitch (Charlton springs to mind) as this creates something 'iconic' which draws media attention and is repeatable and would be broadcast over and over again on SSN/BBC Sport/Quest etc.

 

Don't Forget The Carling Darling "GET RID"

 

Not really a fair comparison. 1 is an FA Cup 5th round match vs a Premier League club on a weekend and the other is a Tuesday night match vs Harrogate Town. The first home game after the Sunderland match we only had 13,500 in attendance and the previous game was 12,000. Last night's true attendance was probably around 8,000 so really only a 4,000 drop on a fair comparison.
