I don't want to get into an argument either so apologies if it's coming across that way.

I agree that the whole thing has been overblown. I just view it that getting a small thing overblown was exactly the purpose of making it public which seems an odd thing to do.

 

The opening post states that Edin contacted Guiseley to complain, which has been confirmed by @wetherbywhaler as being correct ?

"Guiseley then received an email from Bradford City objecting on the grounds that it may cause 'fan unrest'!.

On the back of this, Guiseley have now refused to allow the sponsorship for fear of upsetting City."

For what it's worth I'd hazard a complete guess that it went along the lines of The naugty boys contacting Guiseley to sponsor the fixture as in previous years but asked for it to be named whatever they asked for, whoever they dealt with at Guiseley thought it a bit odd and contacted Bradford City, Edin got told and wasn't happy and Guiseley were happy to oblige and refused the sponsorship under that name ?

Words get twisted and bobs yer uncle, Edin initiated it all ?

Like I said a pure guess, but just going on what's been written, unless both sides release the emails/conversations I guess we are just gonna have to keep speculating.

 

Not really, you could paste the relevant section of the email and help resolve the question. If it came across as fishing then my apologies. After all Guiseley had no plans to make this public and it would appear that it was one of your Naughty Boys Table using a poster on here that has brought us to this point.

Fair enough but it's also about how they've created the situation in the first place, and it isn't so much the nickname as how they've tried to stir the unrest at the club at the moment. Their motives if one is being generous seem ill judged.

 

How could suggesting a tribute in memory of a well liked community character be seen as inappropriate?

 

It was an honest question.

 

Have you got the wrong end of the stick? I can’t see anything that would cause anger in that. It would be a nice idea for the match to be played in his memory. I know you’ve taken a battering over last couple of day, but chill out.
