I don't remember watching footie scores but watching the 93 Grand National (the National that never was) outside Rumbelows, I'm sure in Leeds, some 10 days before I joined the industry.

Didn't it have the latest/full time scores stamped on it, with what looked like a John Bull printing set?

Ok, really showing my age now but didn’t some Saturday games kick off at 3:15 so when they rushed to set the type for the 3:00 pm kick offs they had a bit on back page margin near the bottom right side for the 3:15 results?

We used to get the papers wrapped in bundles tied with string protected by a plastic film that had newspaper sheets in “ negative relief” embossing. It was this plastic that was wrapped around the rollers to form the sheets for the print run.

If you couldn't make the games then it was always Chris Cooper on Pennine/Pulse radio.
Have your tea then nip over to the newsagents (mine was under the Cumberland house flats on Otley Road) for a full evenings reading of the sports action in The Pink.
No matter how much I had taken in, by time I got to my Grandmas on the Sunday which was my ritual I was straight into the Yorkshire on Sunday paper to go through it all again whilst waiting for Goals on Sunday at 12.25pm.
Glory days in the 1996 to 2001 era although if I remember correctly the Pink stopped selling around 2000??

I have tons of old newspapers with City prominent Boeing way back. I’ll see if I can have a rummage when this wind drops. ….It’s, been a nightmare night here. 100 trees down around the village!

I think I remember Leicester away at the old Filbert street and when we got back to the car and turned the radio on it was Tony Delahunty on the local Leicester radio station.
    A few years ago that.
