In my view when you are in trouble as a football team you play it simple. This combination is easy and every footballer knows how to play it. My worry is, can we fashion a team that can play this out of our squad?

Didn't we go to 442 in 2nd half yesterday... didn't see much improvement if so

We haven't got a squad capable of playing 442.

The strikers, Cook aside are shite, and cannot play together.

Only Vernam is good enough in the wide areas and he's injured.

And our central midfield isn't good enough to only play two.

Yep that is what I feared! We are in a dreadful position and without enough points on the board!

Formation doesn’t matter when you play so deep it’s the negative mindset that’s made us be so poor

4-3-3 is the only way to go, The system we have played under Adams and now Trueman with six defenders just brings teams on to you, 2 up top and a player out wide will suit us just fine,
We play 4-2-3-1 against Harrogate we will lose

3-5-2 at least when playing at home. I can’t stomach watching Cook lose out of every challenge when double marked.

Looking at who's available, we're struggling with any formation!!

You could argue that Cook & Elliott up front is the best of a bad job, but you're still not easily accommodating Callum Cooke or Elliott Watt, and you're going to have difficulty putting together a real defence.

    I'd play:

    --------------------Bass-------------------

    Hendrie----FCD----Fiacre----Foulds

    ------------------Songo'o----------------

    Delfouneso---Cooke--------Daly

    ------------Elliott------Cook------------

No formation is perfect or everyone would just use the same one, it’s about either having a formation throughout the club and recruiting towards it and developing your youth teams to play it or like us now getting the right formation to get the most out of what we have. 442 is an absolute no go with our wide men and central midfield, our squad is so unbalanced it’s hard to know what’s best. Stick 3 in midfield either way as it’s a big weakness.

If Staunton is all right, I'd play him. Haven't heard whether he is or not?

That's somehow worse than anything Adams came up with.

Invisible man Mr Daly out of position as well as Sutton who is arguably our best CM. Not to mention Songo'o who couldn't pass wind in a two man midfield.

And thats before we even get to the most immobile strike force this football club will have ever seen.

Just post your own suggestion, it's not easy when you've got multiple positions with no sensible options!

    Bass
    FCD Songo’o Hendrie
    Gilliead Watt Sutton Foulds
    Cooke
    Cook Robinson

The fact that Robinson is probably our second best option upfront says it all really.

I felt too many teams countered Adams' 4-2-3-1 with a 5-3-2,
City were too narrow and they had the width,

So i would agree with a switch to 5-3-2 rather than a 4-4-2
    Is Ridehalgh close to return,
Evans is one that has played wing back at L1 level but his legs might have gone or his attitude is get me out of here

    ---------Bass--------------
    -------------Kelleher/Songo'o/Foulds-----------------
    ----Hendrie/Sutton/Watt/Ridehalgh----------
    -----------------------Cooke-----------------------
    ---------------------Elliott/Robinson--------------------

    So very similar to @bantam2708@bantam2708
    * i rate Cook but would give him a breather for a couple of games and get him on as a sub when their defence has been battered by Elliott.
**Daly could come on for Cooke but Walker should be coming back soon
***As will Vernam and then you can look to renewing the Ridehalgh/Vernam combo
****Plus Gilliead is put back on the bench
