There used to be a sports paper they used to put out on a Saturday evening that covered the daily action.

Seems bizarre these days anyone could be arsed to do it, but back in the days without any internet…….

Why is everything got to have a sexual connotation with you, no it was a "Pink" 10/12 page sports paper the T&A put out after games on a Saturday, one of the few means of keeping up with football scores/results many years ago until the Sunday papers were delivered.
Now that information is available 24/7 for virtually any sport you want information about.

That’s exactly it you had to wait for that paper to come out on a Saturday night to find out how city had got on now you know when a goal is scored instantly it’s a different world

I didn't know they were delivered on the Saturday night, our task was to wait for the T&A van to drop them off then take them to the news paper shop counter where the owner cut the band and sold you your copy, I do prefer the modern way sat with a mug of tea going through any sport you were interested in.
When at the game you were kept up to date with the old score board on the Kop with half time scores.

Then really got big time with an electric score board on the old Midland Road Stand.

2 - 0 up before half time remember those days :sob:.

Yes Collinge’s newsagent on Midland Rd delivered them . I had the round until we moved up to West Bowling in about 68. Steve Ingle lived opposite us and he took a copy every week, along with Shearers shop on Cornwall Terrace.

At reserve games in the old Midland League in the 50's/60's at VP, the stadium announcer used to give City's score when away every fifteen minutes.
Then there was the old half-time score board's that were fitted to the terrace walls pitch side, when the games printed in the programme had a letter next to them.
Score at games A, B, C, D etc were placed manually into the slots!
    Great times.

The first batch of pinks were collected by the newspaper seller that stood outside the Interchange, across the road from the T&A premises. He went and collected them himself. He was usually ready with copies by the time I'd walked back from Valley Parade (c.5.15pm). Just occasionally I beat him to his spot.

It was a must read on a Saturday night. There would be a shop full at the newsagents in Idle at 6pm waiting for the delivery. Match reports for the local teams and they even had the upto date league tables.

I remember the pink, a must have on Saturday night. Does anyone else remember the paper sellers in town. Shouting out loud something totally unintelligible to sell the paper
