To be fair to Adams with this signing, he seems to have been tracking him for a few years and lets be honest, I know we are all crying out for a striker or two, but we did need to improve the goalkeeper options

If and only if there's a genuine chance of signing him at the end of the season then I can see the sense in this. Otherwise it's just pointless. I get it with a loan striker or a loan central midfielder where we need quality above what we can afford. Be interesting to see if Hornby keeps his place.

If so and get rid of ROD we are saving a grand a week cos Bass is supposedly on 2.5k a week and OD on 1.7k, plus OD is out of contract come the summer and crap.

It was fairly obvious Adams didn't rate ROD, and Hornby hasn't really made the role his with some ropey moments in his little run as first choice. Seem to remember after a PJT game he had a sly dig at Hornby? Don't think either float his boat and let's be honest, neither are good keepers, even for this level.

He's wanted Bass for a while, seems he's picked his man for the season. If this one means ROD leaves and we get a good chunk of money in to use the last week of the window, even better.

 

What nonsense told you he was on 2.5K a week? He's a back up keeper who has been third choice at best, who signed his pro deal when the club was financially building after another crash.....

Just from a 2 minute dig on Google, it's pretty easy to find details of player details on clubs who publish their books, which thankfully Pompey do. For the 20/21 season, Bass was on £45K annually. Doesn't include bonuses, but his standard was 45K, so less than a grand a week. His contract looks to be up in the summer too but Pompey do look to have an extension clause according to their fans.

No chance. Pompey want him to be their number one next year when their Man City loanee goes back. He's been sent here to get him ready for that.

Probably could have waited until the summer for a new keeper but if he was available then might as well bring him in and be an upgrade on Hornby and ROD, neither of which have been great this season. They've both had a chance and maybe this no nonsense, if you aren't good enough, I'll get someone in better approach will get rid of some of the players who don't seem bothered.

Agree here. Hornby makes me far more nervous than O'Donnell. Yes, the defence has lost someone shouting at them all the time and failing to take responsibility - but now they've got someone who comes across like a wallflower.

New keeper was always needed, arguably in the summer.
