I am all for taking a gamble on a player of his ability as long as there is a good back up option

File that with "we won't tolerate mediocrity at this club". Empty words from Mr PR man.

As a club... We need to grow a back bone and set a hard and fast rule when it comes to signing players. If they have a bad history with injuries DON'T sign them. If they've NOT managed 30 games or more in two season DON'T sign them.

Sparks... Or who ever is in charge :p needs to grow a back bone and stand up against Adams.

That's not the point though. We were told we weren't going to be signing crocked players anymore and then went ahead and did it again. Twice. With Angol and Eisa.

Back up options tend to be inferior to first choice. Surely by being put in a position to play such, you weaken the dynamics of the team.
At 4th division level, invariably you ain't gonna have 'good' standard back up players.

Eisa doesn't have a past record of injuries to be fair.

77 appearances in his last two seasons doesn't sound like a player with a long injury history.

He's done well considering we have an experienced manager who consistently plays him in the wrong position and in a way that doesn't work to his strengths.

I don't think his form has been as good as before the first twang of the hamstring in September. He continually gives needless free kicks away and goes down to easily. Yes he has good touches but often drifts out of the game. We need a forward similar to Hanson who can bully the defenders and let them know they've been in a game. One who can hold the ball up and bring others into play. If we don't have that we're going cough up possession time and time again.

Feel for the lad, but we've had too many like this over the years and need to learn quickly that the risks are far outweighing the rewards.

People are saying it wasn't his fault but it was unfortunately... he pulled up 5-10 minutes before but tried to hide it as though he hadn't, strolling around and pretending to close defenders down. If he'd been honest and gone off at the time we'd have had his replacement on longer and he wouldn't have pulled up whilst getting our best chance. As it is now he's caused himself a much worse tear and potentially ended his career. Yesterday I was really angry at how unprofessional he was (because it was unprofessional) but having had time to reflect on it I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that maybe it was just denial on his part because he didn't want to be injured yet again, knowing what it might mean for his career

He's been nursing the legs since he came back, I've noticed every game there are balls that if fit he wouldnt hesitate to go for but his mind knows how fragile his hamstrings are. Even the run preceding the injury yesterday, you could see he didn't really want to make the run but his football instinct took over.
Feel sorry for him, he's a good player when free from injury.

I feel fir him, but he's finished as a pro, sadly a gamble that went wrong, but sometimes you need to gamble. As we did with Bobby Campbell, and to a lesser extent (given where he was playing at the time) Chris Waddle.

This didn't work, which is devastating for him and unfortunate for us, but we shouldn't be pointing fingers at the signing.

Maybe the next gamble will be a winner.

And maybe this happening, makes Rupp get his wallet out. Feel for Angol, and sorry that his season is over, but the clubs season isn't, and this is something we need to act on fast and get a replacement through the door pronto. Sometimes a bit of bad luck is what is needed to open peoples eyes.

He has played 232 games and scored 63 goals for ten teams in his career , at the age of 27 .

It has never ever paid off for us. Unfortunately signing perma crocks is a waste of a wage when we could find players of similar ability who aren't missing well over half the season. Angol isn't Ronaldo and is nowhere near good enough to justify being gambled on as the no.1 striker. As it stands he'll have missed something like 70% of the season and I find myself asking, whats was the fecking point signing him at all on those numbers.

And where’s the kid from Luton? (Can’t even remember his name)
Signed in time for Carlisle, was poorly but where has he been since then?
Don’t we just love paying a full months wage to someone for absolutely zero return.
